If they are getting tighter in the lower waist, you probably just need to do more work on your lower abs.

I don't think you can spot reduce one area of your abs

Its not about spot reducing. If you do crunches daily, you are encompassing your upper abs more than anything. Now if you balance crunches with ab rollers, leg lifts etc...you are encompassing entire core, to include lower abs. I keep my upper and lower abs exercises balanced and my pants are loose in the lower ab region. Lower abs are the toughest to get/build (because diet plays such a huge role in it). Just my opinion, but it works for me.

Thanks I do a lot of core work every other day with battle ropes and heavy lifting and I work both upper and lower Abs with machines and bodyweight twice a week.I think that's why I'm confused as to why it seems my pants are getting tighter. Maybe they are getting shrunk in the wash 🙂

I think you are more than likely gaining muscle in the lower ab area, which in turn, could cause your pants to become tighter. I'm sure your doing fine. Just keep your same routine. Good luck!

I doubt that, I am not really working my legs due to knee arthritis. I do very light work once a week and high reps at that.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I'm not stressed, I don't workout for more then 1 1/2 hrs. Must be something I'm eating

Could be as simple as under-recovering, too much caffiene, not enough quality sleep(see: under-recovering)..Could also be undereating. How many days/week you work out and how many calories you chowing on daily?

Under-recovering??? maybe sleep is a BIG issue with me right now. Not getting near enough. We discussed in another threadI only get caffeine from my pre workout drink. On ULC day I eat like a pretty good. I notice I'm always hungrier on those days. so about 3000-3500 cals. on CBL day I bet I get around 4000 cals. I do normally only eat a big meal at dinner time since I work out in the mornings. Most days are the same with fresh salads with bacon, beef, chicken, MCT oil or coconut oil dressing. some cheese. snack on some ULC snack for the recipes here or a quest bar. Protein shakes on CBL day as a snack.

thats not how stress works Im afraid. Low Carbing and fasting is stress. Cortisol is part of the effectiveness of these diets. But it is a stress response none the less.
