Joel AlainParticipantHowdy,I'm new to CNS. I am an amateur powerlifter who HATES "cardio" (though I swing Kettlebells a few times per week). I refuse to use high reps (15+) to "cut up" or any such silliness. Many PL'ers to whom I have spoken have highly recommended Carb Nite Solution. I've been told that it's one of the only diets that allows us PL'ers to keep lifting heavy while dropping fat. I'm looking forward to my first Carb Nite tomorrow (Wednesday). Although so far, this diet has been pretty painless. But then, I'm a meatatarian so giving up carbs most of the time is not a big deal. I've been lurking for the last 9 days or so. Looking forward to getting to know folks here.Pre CNS weight: 238lbs bf% unknown....definitely over 18% :-Goal weight: 185lbs-190lbsTimeframe: As long as it takesAny advice is always welcome.

Joel AlainParticipantOh no actual questions at this point. I was just introducing myself. I'm open to any advice to a n00b like me. I don't get offended if someone says “you're doing it wrong, dumbass”…. I would appreciate advice from any other PL'ers who use CNS. Can you maintain strength while dropping significant weight? What foods to avoid on Carb Nites? What to emphasize during protein and fat days? Do the PL'ers here just stick to the menu-types listed in the book or are there specific considerations for PL'ers? My basic diet for the protein and fat days has been something like this:Wake 4:30 amCoffee w/1tbsp heavy whipping cream6am-7am Train (currently following 5/3/1 for Powerlifting)7:30 am Breakfast: usually 3 eggs scrambled in 1 tsp butter w/1-2 oz ham or the golden scramble from the book with 4 slices of bacon or the goat cheese and spinach omelette w/1-2 oz ham11am Lunch: 6 oz ground beef w/2oz cheese 2 cups spinach (wilted in a pan to make a nice little hockey puck)2:30pm snack: some deli turkey or salami (2oz) and some cheese (1-2oz)6pm dinner: 5-6oz meat (goat cheese-stuffed, bacon-wrapped chicken breast or a striploin steak or a burger patty with cheese) more spinach9pm snack (some days): salami or low carb pepperettes10pm sleepI weighed myself this morning and I'm at 226lbs or 227lbs (my scale is crappy and hard to read). So I'm down 11lbs or 12lbs in the first 9 1/2 days. Not too shabby.

Your doing it wrong, dumbassJ/k 8)You have the general concensus down - just stick it out in the beginning - your body will eventually go "WTF!?!" one day, when you move big weight on an empty tank, but something happens, an adaptation perhaps, and you will actually get stronger the following week or two. You have a lot to look forward to... enjoy the journey! make a log for us to follow. I love reading PL logsBest of luck!

stumprrpMemberLooks good to me man. I'm a pl who used cbl sa to drop about 25 pounds. they are all great diets. The only thing I can warn you is don't look for strength gains. Your leverages will change drastically.Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

BodynsoilParticipantWelcome to the group. I'm sure the powerlifters here will be very helpful, join in the conversation and start up a journal.
