buffcupcakeKeymasterI apologize if this is a dumb question, but during the 10 day prep phase I should NOT add carbs to my PWO shake, correct? Also, I know cottage cheese is recommended a lot, but 1 cup of low fat has about 14g carbs. Do these carbs not count as usable carbs or what? Thanks for the help. 🙂

Try not to do any if possible, it's easy to rack up 30g of carbs on a lot of the foods that are considered ULC.

Richard SchmittModeratorYou're shooting for 0g of carbs per day. You shouldn't be eating anything containing a lot of carbs anyway. Instill some discipline and don't eat ULC desserts. Unless you can fit it in, it shouldn't cause stress.

BronxMemberSo every meal protein:fat and by zero carbs not even broccoli or fibrous carbs?

Correct on the first part. For carbs i shoot for less than 10g useable carbs. This means total carbs - fiber. You can look up the nutritional values of foods using websites like fitday.com and theres a bunch of other ones too.

Only use the shakes post-workout and make sure you check the carb content of your protein powder before using it some of them have quite a bit.

I haven't been using shakes for the longest time. Will get back into them and will be using or trying out Dymatize Elite which has 24gP/2gCHO/2gF or BSN Syntha 6 which is 22gP/13CHO/6gF.The BSN also has though 5g of fiber so really its only 8g CHO.
