NewBMemberI am on day 4 of the prep phase and so far everything is going pretty well and I feel pretty good. Showing 40mg/dL on ketosticks and am down 3 lbs. I have continued lifting and haven't experienced a loss of strength…yet, but know there is a good chance it is coming in the next few days. From Sunday (day 8 of 10 in prep) to Thurssday I will be traveling and won't have access to a decent gym but will be taking prepared foods, sups, etc. to keep the prep phase going and doing whatever I can workout wise.I'll be getting home on day 12. I assume there is no harm in continuing the prep phase diet a couple extra days until I can get back into a real gym. But herein lies the rub...I will get back in town on Thursday, go lift, and have my first glorious night of carbs. I will lift again on Saturday. On Monday I am going camping with some friends for four days and obviously won't have access to a gym. Should I treat my first week as CNS and only load carbs on Thursday and then start CBL when I return from camping or should I backload both Thursday and Saturday and stay ULC while camping?I definitely picked a busy time that is complicating things to start this diet, but didn't see any point in starting it "tomorrow" or "in a couple weeks." Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Richard SchmittModeratorI'd backload after training, and stay ULC while camping. If you have carbs, eat them at night. No worries.

Ideally:- Have your CN on Thursday night- Have your backload on Saturday after training- Stay ULC while camping (shouldn't be hard, good camp food is ULC)If you want to eat carbs while camping:- Have your CN on Thursday night- Have a very small backload after training on Saturday (~50 g of carbs post workout)- Eat carbs while camping, keep them in the evening and don't go overboard- If you go a bit too crazy on the carbs, do a HIIT session. You could even do this at camp if you want.Option 2 isn't ideal, but you'll be fine.

NewBMemberAwesome. Thanks for the quick replies. Gonna backload on Thursday and Saturday and then stay ULC until I get back from the woods. Really don't want to mess up the prep stage after the 10(or 12 as the case may be) days are over. Being a compulsive weigher who tends to obsess over data (I know it's a bad habit but hey, I paid for the fancy Tanita BC-1000 and I'm walking by the scale to go piss anyway so…) it's going to be interesting to see how much weight I have dropped after the first trip and then the camping trip. I anticipate losing a decent amount of fat on the camping trip as I tend to eat pretty light while hiking.
