AliotuaMemberI don't know exactly how to explain this, but I am 6 days into the prep phase and have actually gained a pound or two. Assuming this trend continues, where would I set my nightly carb numbers?I am almost 100% sure I've stayed below 30g of carbs per day, maxing at about 2/meal for four meals. then maybe about 10 for my fifth and sixth meals (probably not even that much)

AliotuaMemberI think what happened was that when I started to really pay attention to food, I realized I wasnt getting enough calories, upped my calories through almond butter primarily and, therefore, gained a bit

JizzmoGuesti think you need a caloric deficit during the prep phase to get some kind of depletion. you obviously still get the benefits on the hormonal level because of the way your body processes carbs/fats, but i think you should aim to be fully carb depleted after the 10 days.eating 250g fat 250g protein you probably wont lose weight, even with 0 carbs.

caloric deficit is kind of independent of water weight lost during the prep phase. One doesn't have much to do with the other. Besides, what's a caloric deficit? Fewer calories usable as energy during the day? If so, it's totally different on a high fat diet anyway.

AliotuaMemberYa, I was already on a pretty low carb diet, so I think I had pretty much depleted my glycogen stores beforehand. Was probably having between 50-100g per day before this last week. I guess my questions are:1) Do y'all think it's ok for me to go ahead and start CBL?2) Where should I shoot for as far as carbs go?

JizzmoGuesti think you can start CBLing. when i first tried CBL i came out of a low carb diet (probably around 100g carbs a day) and it worked just fine! and the 2nd time i went to CBL i only did a 7 day prep, but on the 7th day my workout sucked so much that i just started backloading 🙂

Lesli BortzParticipantI don't know your fat and protein intake but I personally am eating (on prep-phase after 30 days of CBL) twice a day just like CBL. Coffee in morning, first meal of fats/proteins around noon and evening meal between 6-9pm depending on the day. Six times a day doesn't provide much fasting which I thought was important. 1. If you feel you succeeded at the prep phase then just start CBL. I did it backwards, CBL 30 days (couldn't wait to start lol!!) and now doing prep phase so there isn't harm. 2. As for carbs, using the guide based on body weight I'm supposed to eat 500g/carbs but that's nuts to me. Then Kiefer says women should eat small amounts that I would guess around 100-200g carbs based on two pieces of pizza and maybe a dessert. For me that was quite a discrepancy so I eat them until I'm full and so far so good. 🙂
