FairyKeymasterKeeping protein below 15g a day for one day each week apparently helps your body to use up excess protein deposited in your cells, essentially 'detoxing' your cells. I'm on standard CNS and thinking of incorporating it.Thoughts?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorCheck out Kiefers 3 articles on fasting, he talks about autophagy a lot in part 3, which is the point of protein fasting. Also, you have to look at what your goals will be. It may be best for health, but when looking for performance it's likely another story.

+1 for bolded segment. Furthermore, "may" is the operative word.Cory

Brandon D ChristParticipantIf you weight train regularly, I wouldn't do a protein fast. Honestly, if you are doing the 12-14 hour fasts everyday, you are probably getting most of the benefits from autophagy.

FairyGuestI've taken my exercise down to twice a week guys! The idea is butter + coffee for the whole day. Essentially a fast but with fatty acids and leaving your body to clean up old bits of protein and re synthesise them for use.I took the idea from the Bulletproof RapidFatloss Protocol. Sounds like it might be a good addition to CNSI'm going to try it tomorrow and will let you know what happens 🙂

This is what Josh Whiton recommends.

Yep, the podcast gives a pretty good idea what he is doing. I can't see myself doing that, especially after Kiefer hinted that there are other ways to trigger autophagy.

Eric ShawMemberThis guy follows the “Whiton” protocol and has just fathered a new child at the young age of 96. ;D"He lives on a diet of milk, butter and almonds." lolhttp://www.clickorlando.com/news/World-s-oldest-new-dad-is-96/-/1637132/17039686/-/awe8hq/-/index.htmlHe also backloads after every "session" with lots of garlic naan and chai tea and does 4 days a week of high intensity interval yoga. lol

FairyGuestGood luck keeping the butter intact . . . I'm avoiding CCN oil because I'm allergic to things in the latex family inc almonds, coconut, latex, tomatoes, strawberries, pineapple and the like.
