ARMANDO R QUINTAL-SParticipantI see most of you guys say to keep a 1:1 protein to fat ratio in the ULC part of the day, but Kiefer suggests to eat at least 1:.5 protein to fat in this video? which one should I go with? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOJmaNQ2gOU

As he mentioned it would basically run towards health to having higher quality fats, like in a Keto type diet for certain medical conditions, etc. For performance, and/or body composition, you could run 1:1 or alter it to fit your needs. No less than half a gram for every one gram of protein (.5:1 F:P)

ARMANDO R QUINTAL-SParticipantSo half a gram of fat for every gram of protein will keep me burning the fat instead of converting protein into glucose? If it is enough then I am good to go thank you Tex

Yes, pairing fat will prevent the insulin spike from just eating pure protein during the ULC part of the day for CBL. If you're consuming just protein by itself, and a great abundance, yes that will convert into glucose.

ARMANDO R QUINTAL-SParticipantSo .5 is enough for each meal, lets say I consume 30 grams of protein in a meal, 15 grams of fat is enough to prevent gluconeogenesis?

prevent gluconeogenesis? To prevent the insulin spike, that's your job during the ULC part of the day. Do not go about stressing about hitting half a gram for every protein gram you eat. It's the bare minimum, not a max to consume. Just don't eat pure protein during the day, or during an ULC day in general, unless it's for the PWO Shake

ARMANDO R QUINTAL-SParticipantGot it thanks 😀

RoadblockParticipantWhat is your goal? It seems everyone on the forums wants very cut and dry answers for issues that are not cut and dry. Start with 1:1 whatever your goal is. If your goal is weight loss and you find that you are not losing then reduce it to 1:.75, then assess and adjust. If your goal is performance do the same until you feel it is working for you. The one main point that I get from all the information over that past few years is that the general range is 1:1-.5 protein to fat so work within that range and see how it goes.
