Mike MccauleyMemberi do realize the importance of this recovery drink post workout but was looking for some direction or help.i see there are many ingredients and a couple wheys and cassein etc and also read where leucine is very important. the problem is i cannot afford all of this. i was wondering if the protein factory or another source had a single product that would cover most of this and not taste bad? would it be better for me to buy a whey protein drink such as a j rob and buy the leucine or is there a pwo that includes the leucine etc? i guess i am asking if there is a single product that has the most bang for the buck or should i just take the leucine post workout? and where might i buy it? thanks in advance

GonnaBeGiantMemberJust buy a whey protein isolate, it's all you need if on a budget. Then if you have extra cash buy some bulk leucine.

LegsMegs81ParticipantIn addition can someone answer my PWO info as well? These are the nutrition facts of the protein I use which is by Naturade, the vanilla flavor. Free Of Aspartame, acesulfame K, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, MSG.I use one scoop (so 8g protein,.5g fat and carbs) with coconut milk (4.5g fat,1g carb) and then sometimes with a scoop of triple fiber and coco powder which be an extra 2g carbs and a gram or two more fat. And stevia packets vs. the big bag of powder stevia that has .5g carbs per tsp so I learned the hard way one horrible day. Crazy as the individual packets of stevia don't have carbs and actually have fiber. Weird!Questions are 1.) is there too much fat in my PWO shake? 2.) too many carbs? 3.) the right type of protein? 4.) (if protein powder is okay) should I add more Leucine?(since there is almost 2g in one serving and I take half of a serving?)Thank you guys!Supplement Facts:Serving Size: 2 Scoops (20 g)Servings per Container: 17Amount Per Serving % Daily ValueCalories 80 Calories from Fat 10 Total Fat 1 g 2%Saturated Fat 0 g 0%Cholesterol 30 mg 10%Sodium 65 mg 3%Potassium 45 mg 1%Total Carbohydrate 1 g 0%Dietary Fiber 0 g 0%Sugars 0 g Protein 16 g 31%Vitamin A 0 0%Vitamin C 0 0%Calcium 0 2%Iron 0 0%Other Ingredients: Whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, hydrolyzed whey protein, natural flavor, xanthan gum, medium chain triglycerides, papain, bromelain, L-valine-900mg, L-isoleucine-986mg, L-leucine-1708mg, L-histidine, and L-glutamine.

maxwkwMemberThat product looks okay. You'd be better off just getting a whey protein isolate unflavored if you don't want any artificial sweeteners.

atomicusMemberGlucose, maltodextrin, waxy maize or vitargo (the latter being my choice) would be better PWO shake carb sources, any protein will do on a budget, but ideally unflavoured, maybe some sucrose to sweeten (can buy drops cheap), with 2:1 carb/protein ratio mix, and not forgetting 5-10g creatine.

Thomaso17GuestHello, can you help?? After reading the CBL book it states that if training at 6pm, as I do, then I shouldn't include carbs in my PWO shake. However in the PWO chapter it states that they are very important to help spike insulin and also states it in the ingredients of the Hypertrophic shake. Any reason why it says not to add them to my PWO shake??Thanks

atomicusMemberI don't remember it saying that, what page? You should have a fast absorbing carb PWO.

Peter HuntParticipantIt's in the examples at the back, Kiefer has previously confirmed this as a typo, the PWO shake should be there.

Richard SchmittModeratorIf it is a backloading evening, have carbs in the PWO Shake, if you plan to go ULC then no carbs PWO
