I like a Quest Bar every so often maybe twice a week at most. With 21 carbs 17 of which are fiber and 2 sugar do you think they are ok on Fat and protien days?As long as you count them as 4 obviously.

No they apparently spike insulin. Keep it simple for ULC have your treats on your CN.

I wouldn't have it on a CN.Honestly every so often is going to be that big of a deal so don't worry about it.Just don't use them daily for meals.

I used to take atkins bars in my first month of CNS and found out how terrible they are, I then switched to Quest bars and they were way better. However, I now using them sparingly, like 2 or 3 times every two weeks or so, the spike in the insulin is most likely due to the protein. It's relatively low with sugar alcohols (it uses splenda, others use stevia). The bar needs to have more fat in there to be more balanced. Maybe only use on a workout day and whenever you didn't consume enough proteins by the end of your day.

There is someone that I know who uses these bars almost everyday and apparently still making some damn good progress. I'm not a fan of them but use them sparingly and at own risk

I meant just treats in general not specifically quest bars lol

I am not sure why someone would want to use Quest bars. In the 11 years I have been working out and what not Quest bars are some of the worst tasting in my opinion. I once did the anabolic diet using Atkins bars and that was a big mistake. The simplest way to do this diet and any other diet is with whole foods. Some foods are more convient than other but I feel this diet gives you a ton of free time and no matter what your commitments are in your personal life there is time to cook. I work Tuesday-Saturday and work a night job also Wed-Sat and I still have time to prepare food and hit the gym.

Quest bars heated are the best tasting bars on the market!!They also have a great profile too. I'd rather eat a quest bar than a brownie any day. Now I'm not eating them on CNS but I have them on hand when I want one. Heated quest bar with PB on top!!!BF133AC0-0599-48A9-9E79-66953ED85EA9-6107-0000050F791FBB07_zps2005189c.jpg

They're a little grainy, but the only ones I know of so low on the usable carbs (not resorting to loading up with sugar alcohols). The others may taste better but most are high protein candy bars. I could do a bar sometime for a snack and different taste for sure, but I haven't while on CNS.

I've tried lots of bars and IMO quest bars make you feel like your actually eating some food. Regular protein bars are worse than a candy bar and I'd rather eat a snickers and wash it down with a iso shake.

I remember the podcast I believe that kiefer mentioned erythritol and it having an insulin impact, I understand the whey protein isolate caused spike but all pubmed searches yield no blood glucose or insulin response from the ingestion of erythritol. I'm wondering since taking a liquid source of whey protein isolate has a higher response due to the speed of digestion. I'm thinking that these bars paired with some coconut oil or butter could be a decent on the go meal comparable and more convenientĀ  than a whole food source. I'm just trying to find something convenient that wont throw off progress.

As I remove my foot from my mouth, seeing the post below my search was from Kiefer himself on the subject. Reinserts Foot….

Erythitol does not impact insulin or blood sugars
