jrussoMemberIf you step on the scale the morning of carb nite and the weight has not gone done at all should the carb nite be postponed? Or just stick with it?

Dry? No food either? Upon waking? After a run to the restroom? Just curious.Weight loss is not linear, and the CN should NOT be bypassed simply b/c you don't think you've lost weight (the CN is meant for a hormonal response). Keep to schedule, and see how things are the next week.If things are the same, or worse, we need to assess what you may be doing wrong (somewhere).Cory

jrussoMemberHello Cory, yes in the morning after using the restroom without food. I will certainly have my planned nite and reassess the following week. I will let you know how it goes. What are some great foods to eat right off the bat which are low in fat besides the potatoes or rice? Is couscous ok?

I would start with really fast, low-fat foods, but along with protein.I typically start with the fastest:Whey protein shake w/ dextrose or sugar.Candies like Turkish Delight jellies.Angelfood cake.Caramel sauce (for dipping or dripping). After the first meal, I eat whatever the hell I want. I just include protein.Cory

jrussoMemberWhat type of candies are the best to produce the biggest spike in insulin? I love Skittles, would these be ok? Is there something better that I could get?

Stay away from high fructose corn syrups. Most of those commercial candies contain HFCS, like Skittles. Look for candies that don't, perhaps in natural stores (or Whole Foods Market). Whole Foods Market has tons of candies to choose from. All natural.Really, any kind of glucose-based or dextrose-based candy will be fine. Read labels.I mentioned Angelfood cake b/c it is pure fast-carb, and ultra-low fat. Tastes great when dripped in caramel sauce (for more fast carbs).Cory

AciDMemberCory, most of the candies has just list of ingredients, not really giving amounts.Gummy bears "glucose syrup, sugar..." so hard to judge what is base.

They list the ingredients with highest amounts first. So if the list starts with glucose syrup, thats the main ingredient. Some of the candies I eat have only 4 ingredients - glucose syrup, sugar, citric acid and gelatin - so then I know that it's at least 26% glucose syrup. 🙂
