LGDelorenziParticipantHi everybody! I started carb backloading about a month ago, and from now on I'm going to take the AM accelerator shake that Kiefer talks about in the book. I want to know if the protein i bought is the correct one. I bought “Ultimate Nutrition Prostar Whey Protein with BCAA” (here you can see the nutritional info http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/un/prostar-100-whey-protein.html). I need to know if i could have indesirable insuline spikes in the morning with this whey isolate (because of the quantity of the branched chain amino acids per serving), or if its better to buy a regular whey for the A.M. accelerator shake.Additional info:Serving: 30 gr (1 scoop) (i will use about 12gr for AM shake)Each Serving Contains: Essential Amino Acids L-Leucine* 3192mg L-Isoleucine* 1540mg L-Valine* 1275mg L-Lysine 2568mg L-Threonine 1044mg L-Methionine 512mg L-Phenylalanine 960mg L-Tryptophan 636mg Non-Essential Amino Acids L-Arginine 455mg L-Aspartic Acid 2565mg L-Cystine 920mg L-Alanine 1262mg L-Glutamic Acid 4216mg L-Glycine 473mg L-Histidine 512mg L-Proline 1033mg L-Serine 977mg L-Tyrosine 860mg * Total Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) 6007mg Total Essential Amino Acids (EAAs) 11727mg Total Amino Acids 25000mgThank you!

atomicusMemberKiefer has subsequently said the AM shake is not really recommended, so I'd ditch it. It's not necessary.

When and where did he say that?

atomicusMemberBlend D was the one he said isn't recommended anymore, also referred to as 'Daylong Muscle Accelerator'. Not sure if this is one being referred to above though, so I may be wrong. Blend H he still recommends.

I know in the book he says you can have the AM shake through out the day as many times as you want as long as you space it out. Can't see why it would be a bad idea all of a sudden using them.

atomicusMemberWell if I'm wrong it was something else, but there was definitely one of the shakes he said he no longer recommended, and he has said this in podcast or online interview since the book was first released. I'm sure someone else will know where exactly. It has been discussed on here before.

Peter HuntParticipantThat was one of the blends, not the AM shake. That's sacred 😉

LGDelorenziParticipantOk, so finally I have to take my A.M. Accelerator shake. Could somebody answer my question please? 🙂 could I have indesirable insulin spikes or any insulin release that might affect CBL using the whey protein i mention on my first post?

No. That's just the amino acid profile of whey, not just that specific one.

His version does have added freeform BCAAs though. But so long as he's sticking to the ~10g limit its not going to be an issue.

It always makes me nervous when they add BCAA's to a protein.I didn't click the link but is it pure whey or is it cut with a less bio-available source?

Its a mix of whey iso, concentrate and "peptides" which I guess are just the free form aminos.

So is it ok to take it on my AM accelerator shake when I wake up? about 10gr per shake.
