Joseph FlahertyParticipantHey guys,In reading through CNS and CBL multiple times, I've come to understand that, in layman's terms, a certain enzyme in the stomach stops being produced that converts carbs to body fat when the diet is executed correctly. I'm positive the actual explanation is WAY more in depth and science-y than that, but that's the general gist at least. My question: would any digestive enzyme supplement contain this specific enzyme that does this? Are we dealing with completely different types of enzymes here? I know this might sound stupid but I don't want to go along using an enzyme product that will undo the entire process that my diet is set out to counteract. So are digestive enzymes safe?

I take them all the time and I feel they work wonders especially when having a bigger carb meal.

Tried this once and had THE WORST heartburn I've ever had. Ugh, was like 3 hours of agony. No idea why

Any reviews on this one? Thinking about it because I tend to get upset stomach when I eat too much animal fat in a single sitting and heard the ox bile and protease might help..RB

Richard SchmittModeratorIt helps me by a lot. I also take Jarrows Probiotic as well before any meal.

RoadblockParticipantI've been taking Betane HCL and Acidofilous and Bifidous. They seem to help after I get the stomach problem but I only take them with my main meals. I got it this time with a salad with cheese, olive oil, and bacon. Just too much at once I guess.RB

Richard SchmittModeratorI take the digestive enzyme with all meals. Both snacks and main meals. Never hurts to get the extra help. Sometimes I don't though.

Just make sure it has at least 25Billion CFU's per serving, otherwise your not going to get a good effect. GNC carries a line of priobitocs that are really good. If you plan on taking it daily get at least 25B-CFU's.But if you plan on only taking it on your CN's or BL's your better off getting the 50B-CFU's or even the 75B-CFU's.Another option if your only going to take them on refeeds would be to get the chewable tablets (they contain about 5B-CFU) But they taste like starburst so you could snack on a couple on your CN haha.

Just so someone doesn't read this and get confused, this is a good suggestion for choosing a probiotic.. Digestive enzymes are different, in that they stimulate stomach acid production, whereas probiotics are bacteria to repopulate gut flora.Just didn't want someone to start searching for digestive enzymes and finding nothing about CFUs
