John LaPlaca JrMemberHello people,I am on the start of week 3 of Carb nite and it is going well so far. I am down roughly 9-10 lbs already and I have seen a big difference in how my clothes are fitting, my face is slimming down quickly, and so is my abdominal and leg area. One thing I seem to see a lot here is people's expecations of this diet. I myself at first expected it to produce quicker results but I think that is partly because the way Kiefer describes the rapid weight lose. I also see a lot of people getting rid of cheese or dairy. Are those people stalling or expecting too much to soon?I have 4 pieces of string cheese each night, and HWC in my coffee each morning. However I have grown up on a lot of dairy and it has never affected me. I thought gluten was gonna kick my ass on my first Carb nite and there was no difference at all.Let me say quickly I am not judging anyone at all because I do this to myself often. I expect results quicker and quicker and when they don't appear as quickly as a diet suggests I think it doesn't work or I need to find out if I am doing anything wrong or if I need to change anything up.I am around 255lb now and my goal is 215-220 by my birthday of June 28th. I think we all have to remind ourselves often that this will take time and it isn't going to work overnight and to be patient.

Robert GrayParticipantGood thoughts for sure. I think that there is definitely an expectation, or at least a much-encouraged desire for quick results on CNS. Kiefer gives general advice in his videos, but his audience is very diverse and everyone has their own goal. Some people are just seeking weight loss, other people are bodybuilders getting ready for the stage. Some people have food allergies, others don't.Speaking for myself, the information overload on the forums led me to trying different eliminations (dairy) and reintroduction of stuff that I had avoided (gluten). In my case, dairy turned out to be okay (a very recent conclusion) and gluten proved to still mess with my digestion enough for me to avoid it.It's all about the journey. Like Anthony Bourdain says, "your body's not a temple, it's an amusement park." If DH has done anything for me, it has encouraged a little healthy experimentation with my diet and fitness regimen, and it's been interesting for sure. 8)

Scope75GuestOne step at a time. It won't happen over night or even in a month but give it time and it'll shine. Dairy for me makes me hold some water but that doesn't stop me from eating a good amount of cheese everyday but I will cut it out if I want to look sharper/leaner for an event or something.

dgibsonMemberI find myself wanting quicker results for sure. I lost the majority of my weight by other means and am trying to cut off the last 15-20lbs of fat. I'm also on week 3 and have lost around 8lbs, which I'm not too impressed with since 5 could be water weight. Sometimes it feels like I'm shedding a little fat, and sometimes I'm not sure though – it's harder to tell since I'm nearing the end goal and am not tight since losing a bunch of weight already. My plan was to stick with it for 2 months and see how the results are though.I definitely found that cleaning up my diet and reducing portion sizes outside of carb restriction was useful, as I don't know how I would be losing weight eating larger portions of the food I'm eating now.

Scope75GuestYou have to understand the last 15-20 is way harder tolde than the first 15-20 hell the first 50-60 pounds comes off easier than the last 5.

FairyGuestThanks for the advice everyone here!Kiefer does say things like CNS STRIPS OFF FAT, so yes. No wonder we are all sitting around thinking what am I doing wrong? It seems the more fat you have the more you will lose each week. If you are a lean female 1/4 of a pound a week might be all you lose. If you have low LBM, you might even put ON weight as you recomp.

blkx3MemberI have wanted to quit many times in the give or take 8 weeks I've been on CNS. I am at my last 10lbs before REALLY seeing my muscles so the process is soooo SLOW for me and I start to lose my patience and want it NOW. I was definitely attracted to this diet's slongan… STRIPS OFF THE FAT…. just didn't think about how LONG IT TAKES to strip it off!

And it doesn't always come off where you want it to either! I want to strip off the belly fat, but I'm mostly getting more definition in my arms. So I guess there's some progress.
I've still got some diet tweaking to do. I feel like the Carb Nite book needs an update. There's a lot of contradictory info with things like coffee + cream, fasting, and the use of protein supplements, which is why there are so many questions on here about them. It's good to hear other peoples' stories and struggles here. It's definitely not as easy as it sounds. I personally do not enjoy the diet (I miss milk and fruit too much) and can't wait to strip this fat and get to CBL.

Scope75GuestCrazy how fat always stays where you don't want it too!!!I hold most of my fat on my chest and stomach the 2 spots I don't want it. LolThis is a marathon not a sprint!! If your after the quick fix you'll end up gaining the pounds back. Slow and steady and you'll stick with it and get the task at hand handled. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day!!

dgibsonMemberIt took me about 8 years to get fat and hit 250 and it's been <3 to get back where I am – 212ish and regained a lot of muscle – so no complaining here. End goal is around 200-205.

Brandon D ChristParticipantIn general stomach fat is the last thing that comes off for men and for women, thighs and butt. You limbs and neck are typically the first places where you will lose fat.If you have a lot of fat to lose (like 50 lbs) and you aren't losing fat at a very fast rate, you are probably eating a bit too much. Though I will say 3-5 lbs of fat lost a week is rather high in my book.

MikehrMemberI wanted to point out that yea Kiefer does exaggerate a bit with the slogan but also people on here and with these sort of diets are stubborn. Everyday there is a new post asking if you can eat this or eat that, mostly foods that aren't ideal but people feel they NEED them to succeed.Ive said it before and for both me and my sedentary mother cutting all the sugar free bullshit, artificial sweeteners besides stevia, processed foods and stick to the foods that are recommended and advised has led to the most consistent and beat results and also leaves you feeling great!

Until someone collects statistics on the performance of the diet, you can't confidently say Kiefer exaggerates. It's important to note that you are much more likely hear from people that have trouble with diet as opposed to those who are successful. Most people that buy the book don't even post on the forums or facebook page. One example is I was talking diet with a fellow powerlifter at my gym. I brought up that I did Carb Backloading and he told me that a guy he trains with lost 30 lbs on CBL. Skiely (who does post on this forum and trains people) has reported similar results.

MikehrMemberVery true, never thought about it that way

Scope75GuestEveryone's progress will be different and the more you have to lose the better any diet will work. I'm no CNS because I've tried loads of other options and now its time to try CNS and from all the reading and reviews I've read I have no doubt about it that CNS will work for me. Progress may be slow but that's when you need to start experimenting with different foods and snacks to make CNS work better for you.
