KidfoKeymasterHi, I just got the book, but I understand it is a bit old, is Kiefer still careful about Saturated Fat? What should be the percentage of Saturated/Monounsaturated/Polyunsaturated on daily bases? Or what does Kiefer recommends at this point? Also I assume MCT oil is recommended over Flax oil?I see a lot of meal recommendation with Almonds that are obviously high in Omega 6s/

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorHis stance has changed.Focus your fats around animal sources, Grass-fed beef and butter are amazing.Coconut oil and MCT oil are both awesome.Have some EVOO, Nuts, or avocado sometimes is fine, just don't use them as main fat sources.Don't use flax, use fish oil.

KidfoGuestAre your refeeds very healthy? Low Glycemic?

Healthy is relative. High glycemic foods can be just as healthy as low glycemic (IE sticky rice). But you shouldn't be eating low glycemic foods, you want high glycemic foods that will spike insulin high. It was gives the hormonal boosting effect. Read the book.

They are clean by DH standards but in regular people's minds they are definately not lol I get 600g of carbs from white rice, white potatoes, rice chex, corn pops and frozen yogurt with some GF treats occasionally. So basically 0 nutrition but it does the trick haha

We don't believe in low Glycemic at all around here.My last carb nite was PWO shake with dextrose, chicken with rice and sweet potato, a whole gluten free pizza, a half dozen pancakes, and a half box of kids cereal. Omnomnom.

KidfoGuestYes I should read the book before asking stupid questions. Just one curious question, what is your carb intake when you are not on CN? Is everyone on “Keto-like” more or less year around?

Do you mean what is the actual diet? If that is the question "CarbNite" is what is called a cyclic ketogenic diet. So yes, most of time you are eating high and moderate protein diet (protein amounts based off LBM is recommended). Carb intake is 30g of less a day, and 10g or less per meal, but most of us shoot for less than that (around 10g TOTAL for the day is probably typical). Then there is the actual CN which starts as a normal day (Fat and protein, but then you eat carbs at night.)The book is 20 bucks so id just buy it. Its not totally up to date, but the framework is there, and updates are available on the forum.

I think he means when you aren't dieting, as in not trying to lose weight.
