NDMKeymasterHello all,I'm 7 days into the prep phase and feeling great. After the 3rd day, I lost my extreme thirst and mental fog. I have lots of energy and have no problems lifting or running (more to follow). As a military member, I have to do fasted morning PT 3times a week in addition to my 4-5 strength training days. Morning PT usually consists of a group run or a bodyweight circuit for 35-40 minutes. In the past 7 days, I have ran 3 5k's (7min/mile pace) and have done 3 strength workouts.Goals - lose 8lbs fat in 8 weeks while maintaining/gaining mass. I plan to backload on weight days only. 8lbs is a high estimate of fat to lose, but the mirror will be the deciding factor. Because of how I am feeling and the morning PT 3x a week, I feel I can begin backloading now. I will be doing SA and switch to DB once I feel my BF goal has been achieved.Should I be good to go and start backloading tonight? Thoughts?

Tanner FoxParticipantI am hesitant to say yes because people could run with that and everyone would think they can get away with not running the full 10 days.BUT...with your situation and you doing your AM PT I would assume that would have expedited the process of switching your body over to using fat as its primary fuel source.

I did almost the same thing as you. Did HIIT (3.5 miles) each day of Prep as well as weight trained. I cut it short at 7 days, and know I shorted it. Had to do the prep phase all over again. If you feel good just stick with the whole 10 days. its only 3 more days, then the bliss will begin.

Thank you for chiming in here. I was waiting for someone like this to respond. NDM you have made it this far (7 days) and while it MAY work....why risk it? I'm sure there are about 1000 reasons WHY Kiefer says 10 days and not 7. If it were ME, I wouldn't want the "if I only did the prep phase correct" affecting my future awesomeness with CBL.

+1 Its not worth it. I knew I was still burning Carbs for fuel, and my prep wasn't enough fat. I am actually detoxing as we speak. As Kiefer would say "why risk it"

NDMGuestYea, you're right. 10 days is shorter than 17 if I have to do it all over again. It's not even that bad, I just want to crush the box of fruit loops I bought. Another question... Am I going to have ferocious bowel movements after my first backload? I'm sort of concerned about the following day, haha. Thanks for the help.

Damon AmatoParticipantIn my case, I didn't get that metabolic switch over until day eight, so if I cut the prep phase short I'd be in tough shape.

Short answer...YESLong answer... go big on your backload! I mean big. Your full? Eat more. Your going to yack? One more cookie wont hurt. The poop the next day will be GREAT.

Jeffrey HansenParticipantJust to add, I am losing inches on the waist, gaining size in the upper body but my weight is not moving much at all, just down 4 lbs from the stabilized weight after my 7 day prep phase (doh). That's in about 7 weeks. If weight is crucial to lose, maybe do CNS.
