Richard SchmittModeratorNo seriously, not being a smartass, the information of both questions are seriously in that podcast about artificial sweeteners.
TexThat's not good enough he wants you to hand feed him the info.
Nice.

Tex make these guys work for the info themselves.Hand feeding them doesn't help the problem at all.

Richard SchmittModeratorI knew what you were getting at, believe me I really do.

Lol, seriously? So we should spend years learning this stuff like you guys did - or has someone answered a few questions for you along the way? What's the point of having a Q&A forum?Btw, I'm on a slow dial-up connection (no cable or DSL here) and probably will never spend 10-12 hrs dloading a podcast (I do appreciate the BJJ Caveman writing those summaries though). š

Brian TimlinParticipantLads, I get where ye are coming from but I'm not someone who wants to be spoonfed.Ā I've already spent hours and hours on Keifers book and podcasts.Ā It's not easy to digest it all quickly, nor to keep listening to all them.Ā I might get there eventually, but I don't know how I could have been more diligent so far, and I'm a quick pick up.If I know an answer I'd help someone (you'll notice I was trying to help out earlier on this thread) without putting them through hoops and give them the option of also going to a podcast, which someone like me would probably listen to as well.I also really appreciate the help I've gotten so far from the experienced guys, including Big Tex.

I only had a chance to glanceĀ at some of the studies he cited, not the podcast. So does Ace-K have the green light now? These studies really drill into a complex chain of events.

It all depends on what you're consuming with it, but it can be a yes if ULC and a yes during a BL/CN

OK,I guess I get it now.So with no carbs present,it won't spike insulin, and on a backload you want to spike insulin anyhow,so it is good.

lewkowicz613MemberI actually have the unflavored whey with no fillers or additives. I was wondering if the weird feeling was coming from the insulin spike.
November 17, 2014 at 2:01 am #227309
Richard SchmittModeratorNo it's coming from the whey. The sweetener is different.

Justin GuimondParticipantAt only 150lbs, sounds like your backloads are a bit too big for your muscle mass.Ā Also, how hardcore are your workouts?I've been playing with bordering on the side of too little backloads lately, very glucose-heavy (e.g. - one post-workout carb meal of 3/4 c. dried measure sticky rice, with 3/4lb ground beef, and a bit of honey and habanero for sauce), and then going big on backloads only when I'm feeling really dogged, or when it socially makes sense (family feasts, etc.).Ā Seems to be working well for me.Ā See: http://jguimondbb.tumblr.com for my self-tracking.

Bruno CattoriniParticipantSo basically according to the podcast diet drinks o sweeteners during the day or during ULC is fine, but you shouldn't take them along with carbs… Maybe I didn't understand it right, but wouldn't you take them during your backload meals? Aren't you looking for a bigger insulin spike when backloading?

Dr. Patel asked this very same question in the podcast, and Kiefer addressed it.
