Greg l wilcoxParticipantI'm curious who has made the change. I'm struggling with it. I workout at 7:30pm after putting the kids to bed. 60 minute workout puts me at 8:30pm. Waiting an hour puts me at 9:30pm for a PWO shake, then roughly 10:00pm for backload. That means at 9:30pm at night after a long day and working out I'm at only 2100 caloires or so. Additionally, I need to up at 6:00pm. So, I'm thinking it is better for me to get some good sleep and maybe only wait 30 mins before the PWO shake.

Penny DannerParticipantDid you listen to the Webinar? Your workout situation is the one that Kiefer says is the worst. Go watch/listen to the webinar to see how he says to handle it.I have made the switch but i'm doing CN.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI have, and I workout around the same time as you. Granted I don't need up till 7 most days so I get a little more sleep.

Greg l wilcoxParticipantTrevorHow many calories are you at for the day when you have your PWO shake? How many calories total do you end up at?I'm thinking of starting a German volume training but as it is I'm hungry while working out.

1000-1500 calories prior, and 2800-3200 average total.

I believe someone in your situation is supposed to backload before your workout. I'd probably start around 4 o clock and continue until 5:30 pm. Give yourself two hours to digest and go train. You can also have carbs with the Carb Shock I'd imagine.

Sascha HeidParticipantI train even later (22:30-0:00) but I'm scared of carbs pre-workout.I wait an hour till the shake but at the same time start eating carbs. Will see how it goes, I just finished my prep 🙂

Greg l wilcoxParticipantI read the webinar notes, he said late night is the worst time. In carb backload , the 9:00pm is the late night scenario.Based on all the science he explains in his book, I can't imagine why we would high GI carbs before working out, say 4:00pm.I will need to read the chapters over. For now there is no way I'm back loading first

Assuming you can get enough carbs in after the workout, I don't think you should have carbs first.

Joannes BartholomewMemberSorry guys, but the webinar link seems to be blocked in the country I'm at (Indonesia). No idea why. Anyone has a copy of the notes I can download off a mirror link?

LGDelorenziParticipantWhy is the late night (starting backload at around 10pm) providing you can get carbs in until like 1am and then go to bed and wake up next day at around 9?

Late night is bad assuming you don't have time to get carbs in. If you are staying up late and can get carbs in its not really different then the optimal time.
