So, I've been trying to be as strict as possible with CNS. The only issue I'm having is social eating on days that are supposed to be ULC. What does everyone do when you have social events that pretty much require eating carbs a full day ahead of schedule? Thanks for any opinions/help.

If you know about the event, bring some containers for you. If you're at a restaurant, that's easy. Order meat and veggies. You don't have to eat carbs if you're planning to be ULC and sticking to your goals.

Thanks Tex. Prob is that it's a home get together where the chow is pizza. No getting around it. Bringing other food would be ridiculously awkward. I guess I'm stuck. I may have to make Saturday my ULC day and tweak it back somehow to Sundays.

As I completely understand, but for me personally I wouldn't eat it. I'd either say that you had something before hand and quite full or you'll pass but appreciate the offer. It wouldn't be awkward to start bringing your own stuff or even perhaps ask for other options. Bring a potluck of stuff to contribute towards meals.

+1 to what Tex said, also I would make SURE I really did eat before hand, and was not hungry at all by the time I'm sitting there with friends and carby food. I always go this route if I am unsure of what is being served. I prepare a nice big dinner, we eat, and then we go to the event. Then if there is something (may be a small side item) that fits into my ULC day I'll just order/eat that and then offhandedly say, “Oh, I'm just not very hungry tonight.” No need to tell them you ate before hand, as that may come across rude when you are not meaning to be.There's always the option of scraping the toppings off the pizza and just eating that.... though that would look funnier than just bringing your own food. 😀

Thanks very much for the replies. I appreciate it very much. To an outsider, they might read this thread as crazy, but to me it's just about compliance, preserving the keto state and achieving my goal. It just doesn't leave much wiggle room sometimes. Thanks again for the responses. It was def helpful.

In the beginning, it was awkward not eating and explaining why I wasn't eating. Now most people I see know how I eat and just expect me to either not eat or order a special item. Like spats I eat before I go or wait till I get home. I am gluten free and would rather not feel like shit so it easy to avoid the carb foods. of we are going to someones house i just pack my dinner. I get funny looks buy in the long run it doesn't matter what they think.

Either cheat and accept it may set you back, or stick to the diet and accept being perceived as weird or rude.  So I guess what is more important to you, fitting in/making your friends happy or the diet?  Personally I think either route is understandable. If do the cheat route, you can fix the damage by doing a HIIT session the next day and delaying your CN four more days.

I move my carb nite all the time between friday and sundays. In my opinion this is a longer term thing we are doing so you have to adapt. If you dont want to move your carb nites then I would eat before and say your not hungry. (like most of the people above)

Read this http://www.t-nation.com/powerful-words/dieting-a-rantDave Tate has a way with words.Honestly it depends, in the past I have moved around a CN when I wanted to not worry about things and enjoy myself AND things have been progressing well. Earlier on I would do as Tex said earlier bring your own, or eat first...etc.

Not that you should need an excuse, and it could help in different situations, but things like sensitivity to gluten, dairy, other food allergies are real… just tell your them you can't eat that stuff or you'll destroy their bathroom… no one likes paint peeling violent diarrhea  😉
