Guy KirklandMember2nd week update:I'm still sticking with 2 carb nites per week.(actually 1 every 4 days)This week I've gained 4lbs. I can tell my shirts are a bit tighter around my stomach. Ugh.Now, Monday evening I stuck with my macros but I had to work late and didn't get enough protein or fat. I live in Atlanta. I was stuck in that crazy ice storm. Long story short, I wound up fasting for 24 hours from Tuesday to Wednesday. It was not on purpose. The following day, I did a carb nite. I had 372 carbs.I'm wondering if the weird eating schedule could've contributed to the weight gain. I don't know.I'm still trying to understand what the end goal of 2CNS is for me. Is it getting the fat loss going or to just jump start metabolism. Something else perhaps?Any thoughts in general?

Mostly it's to make sure that your thyroid and metabolism are functioning optimally allowing for greater fat burning potential during the low carb phases. I wouldn't be surprised at the small gain in weight initially, especially if you've been so heavy restricting calories for a long period. Just continue watching it. It should level off and start to decrease. Any change in diet, stress, sleep can have pretty big short term changes in weight. Have you had any blood-work done recently? I'm always interested to check out peoples thyroid and hormones to see if there's something worth tweaking via diet and supplementation.

Guy KirklandMemberCool. I keep an eye in it.If it leads to the fat loss starting up then I'll do it.I just wanted to make sure that I don't need to go back to 1 CN at some point.I haven't had any blood work done recently. Is there any merit to cutting dairy?

You might want to do 1 CN a week but I dont think its the best way to go long term. Some people think they experience better weight loss without dairy but that seems to fly in the face of a lot of research that suggests those who eat the most dairy tend to be leaner and have better results with fat loss. Calcium is thought to be the main reason and dairy is the best food source of calcium.
