CougarFitnessKeymasterSorry to bother you all, but I've scoured the forums looking for this answer … I started Carb Nite a while back, lost 6.5 lbs during prep phase, however, on Day 3 of Prep Phase I drank 3 light beers. So, I thought maybe I didn't end up training my body to use fat for fuel after all, even though I had decent results.Did a few weeks of ULC w/Carb Nite once every 7 days and have lost NO additional weight. Measurements down slightly almost all over, but not significantly. Two weeks ago, a few things happened - had a festival and ended up having TWO back to back Carb Nites (stupid and weak, I know). Also injured a tendon badly and can't lift.SO - I have redone the Prep Phase - I did 20 min of HIIT for each of the first 3 days. I'm on Day 9 of Prep and super sluggish and irritable. I want to do Carb Nite tonight (one day early), but want to be sure my body has "switched over" or is "still" switched over from before?? I'm about 18% bf, female, and did damage/slow my metabolism over the past year with super low calories and long steady state cardio - I"m worried if I keep going on this 2nd round of Prep Phase, I'll be doing more harm than good.Any knowledge in this department? Would it be okay to start CN tonight instead of tomorrow since it's my second round of Prep Phase?

To be honest, since you have already done a few carb nites and the diet isn't entirely new to you, doing a carb nite on day 9 instead of 10 should be okay, if that's the question you are asking.

Richard SchmittModeratorWell since you did the initial prep phase before (full ten days) and you're doing it again because of the damage that was done I would say you're fine in going a day early and just doing a CN every 7th day. I would try and stick to it and not do the back to back CN and all.

Yes, thanks - that's basically the question I'm asking - I didn't know if/when your body stops using fat for fuel and reverts back to carbs - I think I read or heard Kiefer say it takes something like 3 or 4 days for that to happen. So, just wanted to make sure I was still in fat-burning mode 🙂

Hi Big Tex 🙂Yes, and thank you - I know BacktoBack is just ... well, wrong! So, I didn't know if I wasn't burning just fat for fuel anymore .. or how I would even know if I switched back to carbs for fuel. That's why I started again.
