Starter workout program

    I've taken a sneak-peak at the starting strength edition, and it looks like something I could really use, with a lot of nice explanations, so thanks a lot guys. I'll definitely give that a go! 🙂

    Thanks for the links 🙂 I actually bought the book yesterday and have started reading it and was just about to jump on YouTube and search Starting Strength. So I will DEFINITELY use those videos. Much obliged.

    Just make sure you are at least doing the basic barbell exercises.  If you want to do curls, leg extensions, and flyes go ahead, it's not going to hurt you.I never did a lifting program until about a year ago.  If you need something written out, just do Shockwave.

    Because I never had any real experience lifting, I needed a "program" to walk me through what to do so that I'm not just one of those guys who goes to a gym and hits the bench press and curls and then leaves. We do the same few exercises in random ways b/c we don't know better... until someone teaches us otherwise. I have the Shockwave app and PDF and plan to utilize it, but definitely wanted to learn the classic lifts first and start incorporating them asap.

    I don't know.  I never found bodybuilding programming to be difficult (strength programming is a different animal), it was common sense to me that you would want to work all the muscles.  I just picked up the weights and went at it.

    Thanks for the great links. 🙂I've booked an hour with a personal trainer to help me with the exercises, but is it alright to start them on my own? After only havent watched the videos?

    I think it is.  Keep in mind, though, the key for at least your first session, and probably first several sessions will be to nail down form and not worry much about moving a lot of weight.  This is especially true of squatting.  Perhaps I'm alone in this, but form for squatting was a difficult thing to nail down, especially if you don't have the requisite flexibility, which I didn't.
