Fair enough, thanks Ibob. I am still figuring this out. I wanted some advice because I wasn't sure if it was the workout or the ulc that did it. I didn't want to have a repeat after my next deload week.RB

What is your accessory work like? When I was on CN I was doing the Dave Tate periodization accessory work. I couldn't imagine doing Big But boring on CN.

Asides from doing 5x10 deadlifts, BBB hasn't been that rough for me (yet).Though I'm not doing the full BBB routine as written. I'm doing the 5/3/1 sets, the 5x10 sets and then whatever accessory work I feel like doing, not the ones written in the book.

Just don't overthink things man. Get in the gym get your prescribed reps with the correct percentage. Your last set, crank out as many as you can without killing yourself. Heres My template Snatch or Clean and Jerk Box Squat, Deadlift, Bench, Push Press 5/3/1 Assistance work(rows, pullups, lunges, sled drags, etc) Conditioning- I just combine some bodyweight drill and stability drills together and make a circuit. 100 Band pullaparts, extra ab, low back, and grip work.

Another question now. I have started to notice that the morning after my non workout day I get really dizzy and light headed and feel like I can't get in enough oxygen and almost have a panic attack. I am working out Mon. Tues. Thurs. Fri. and having a small 100g carb snack in the evening on Sun. and Wed. and a full 300g backload Mon. and Thurs. This is happening on Monday and Thursdays. I have a buddy who is a diabetic and asked him what his symptoms are when his sugars are low and he told me EXACTLY what I am experiencing. On the one Monday I felt so bad I thought I was going to pass out while driving. I felt it a bit again this morning and was going to ask my friend to check my sugars but after I ate a small ULC meal it went away. I have a Dr.'s appt. next Thursday but before I get checked out any ideas? RB

Actually Kiefer once said in one of his videos to eat fried eggs if you are going hypoglycemic in the morning.

I have been using coconut oil because he was recommending fats in the AM and it postponed todays episode. The other one was right early in the AM when I didn't take the fats. I usually fast until 10am or noon giving me 12-14 hours. Should I just abandon that? Is this anything that I should worry about?RB

That off day carb meal you're having, is it low fat?

I am not really paying attention to be honest. All of my meals are usually between .5:1 and 1:1 for fat and protein and those carbs on the off day are usually just a treat after dinner or some baked potatoes with dinner or something like that. I don't just have the carbs on their own, they accompany my last meal which I would have to say always has some fats.RB

Ok.  I was gonna say if they were low fat to add some fat to them.

I'll try to pay attention and make sure that I don't just grab a low fat snack. Since I haven't really payed attention to it it might have happened.I used to backload with about 300g after every workout and nothing at all on off days and I have only lost 10lbs since September, but I have dropped a few %bf so that's good. I wanted to switch it up to be a more strickter version of CBL and give it a go. On Tuesday and Friday I just have the post workout shake with 200mg caffeine, 45g whey, 40g dextrose, 5g creatine, and 5g leucine. Then 2 hours later 15g whey and 5g leucine. I stay no carb.RB

I don't know if you know, but there's a new version of the book, called Beyond 5/3/1. It has new tons of info and various training protocols.Basically Wendler says to change your deloads from every 3 weeks to  6 weeks. Besides that he adds two rep/set schemes that make the training even harder. First, called JOKER SETS - ater you finished your last set of maximal repetitions, add 5-10% to that and do another set of 5, 3 or 1 reps depending on the week of the cycle. If you can do it, add another 5-10 and do another one. Keep adding until you can't do the prescribed reps, then just switch to doing heavy singles still upping the weight by 5%-10%. It all depends on how you feel on particular day (autoregulation, just like in Shockwave). By doing the joker sets every training session you are able to do heavier weights closer to your max, and get used to them.  Sometimes you can go super heavy, sometimes just do one more set after the final work set of standard 531.  After that he mentions FIRST SET LAST assistance protocol that says to do the assistance work with the weight of your fist work-set during that day. He says to do 3-5 sets of anything between 5-10 reps. It reaaaaaly adds the volume, It's like Boring But Big gone really hardcore. After I did the squats, joker sets and first set last with 5x10 at 65% of my max I could barely walk. Cant wait for the 70% and 75% sets of 5x10 that are coming next two weeks! There is a lot more info in the book, I advise you to buy the ebook if you are doing 5/3/1 at the moment.

I have been looking at the recommendations from Wendler's new book about running through 2 cycles before deloading. I am almost finished my 2nd cycle and feel great so I am going to skip the deload week again. Anyone see any problems with that?Last cycle I missed my deadlift 1+ lift, so I just ran it at the same numbers for the second cycle and hit it for 2, but other than that stumble everything is going well.RB

Didn't think so, thanks Tex. Sometimes it's good to bounce things off other people.RB
