MaxeeeKeymasterhi,I just wanted to know, how I could "kick off" my carb nite propperly? maybe the best would be dextrose? pure sugar without fat? would love to hear your thoughts...

Sarah_WalkerParticipantI keep my fat as low as possible (pretty much 0) in my first cn meal and then gradually increase my fat later through the night, with my latest meal being whatever I feel like. So I do a protein shake w/ non fat yogurt and a banana, and then have dextrose candy along with that. I usually go with Nerds because they are my favorite! Anything to get a huge insulin spike, and I usually feel a giant sugar rush after that!

Carbier meals w/ protein to kick off. Think carby foods like angelfood cake or candies.Following meals should be whatever you desire. Just keep consuming protein to meet daily quota.Cory

Richard SchmittModeratorPretzels are good along with sushi and potatoes too! If anything else, low fat cereal is good too.

Sarah_WalkerParticipant@Cory glad to know that about gummy bears. They are one of my favorite candy's but I wasn't sure if it was the right kind of sugar for my insulin spike. Also wasn't sure how to handle high fructose corn syrup that a lot of gummys are made of. I will be implementing those tonight along side my nerds! 🙂

I like to keep my sugar/fructose levels down. My only "sugar" intake is dextrose.

Hi Maxeee - I've been doing this since late April, and just had my most effective carb nite ever, with the introduction of Dextrose...What I ate on Sunday:PWO - Whey Isolate with THREE servings of Dextrose shake (that's six tablespoons)45 minutes later, 2 cups of fruity pebbles (just found out they're gluten free!!!) and 1.25 cups skim milkFat free till this point - I made gluten free chicken tenders (using 1% buttermilk as "batter" and rice chex crushed as "breading"), baked in the oven (no additional fat) and all natural sweet potato waffle fries, also baked...minimal fat in this meal alsohalf a milk chocolate and hazelnut bar (was craving chocolate)5 jordan almonds - they were from my sisters wedding the previous week - bad luck not to eat them, saved them for carb nite 🙂A HUGE slice of gluten free homemade apple pie and 2 servings of fat-free vanilla ice creamThe carb nite portion of my day ended up totaling roughly:2800cals 59fat 390carbs 138proteinThis weeks goal is to start a little bit earlier so I can get an additional amount of carbs - likely from dextrose! eat a slightly smaller meal (was thinking chicken fried white rice) just to have more room in my belly, eat some of my husbands "real" ice cream that I've been eyeballing for 2 weeks now 😉 and eating less overall food during the low carb portion of my day before my workout so that the days calories don't get totally out of hand (4200 this week!!!!)5'4, 140-145LBS, 32 yo female, 19% BFThis was among the biggest carb nites I've ever done, and always averaged about 300-330 grams with not really any results....Woke up looking tighter for sure.

mcems64Guestfor my past 2 carbs nights I have kicked it off with 3 scoops of fusion 7 and a cup of rolled oats. Just wondering if the oats are a good starter or should it be more simple sugar. total shake is around 67 protein and 100 ish carbs.
