FairyGuestYep! CBL SA for you! Train how you want, and adjust the diet to suit.

Sherylea HurstParticipantBut im pretty sure my BF is still high…..I was under the understanding the CBL happened after BF levels were down quite low? Could I do something like a modified CN…for instance just 1 back load and one full out Carb Nite?

FairyGuestYes, you could. If fatloss isn't a goal for you, you can also do CBL 3 times a week.

CBL works for anyone who lifts, it just gets more and more robust the leaner you get. Kiefer recommends using Carb Nite until about the 15% body fat level because the difference in muscle growth isn't going to be that much more on CBL than CNS at 15%+ levels. You aren't trying to lose fat, so CBL will work nicely.

Although this is for men.I'd guess 20% wouldn't be a bad starting point for females.

Oh I am sorry I misunderstood your previous post. You will still get leaner on CBL, but you will be able to put muscle on as well. I still think you you should give CBL a shot.

I second that. If you add lean muscle it'll be a lot easier dropping down to that specific percentage. Especially the amount of training you're doing.

buttahGuesti have a quick question…how do you train, high reps to failure low to moderate weight, or do you do heavy sets to get the muscle to break down,,,varying those types of training and changing up the splits in your routine, with the added calories with def put your body into a change and youwill see the results…muscle burns fat, and without getting the complete break down and rst, your results will ge slow and low..

CBL doesn't work with low weight, high rep training. It doesn't translocate GLUT4 very well. You can still do those sets, but only in addition to the heavy sets. On Carb Nite it doesn't matter.By heavy I mean sets of 12 reps or less.

buttahGuestthat was my point ibob…thats why i asked her how she trained…without the heavy sets, it will be slow and low…together we got the point across i hope.. 🙂

Sherylea HurstParticipantThanks for helping me out. So right now I am doing a split workout with 1 day off during the week and usually 4-5 HIIT sessions. I lift heavy….I normally do 3-4 sets of each exercise and do 10-12 reps. Each muscle groups gets about 6 excercises with the exception of my legs which is more. My goal is to try to come out looking like Alex Navorro 🙂 She is my height 5'2 but it looks as though she has about 5-10 lbs of muscle on me ( ( have read she is 115 and 120). Either way she looks amazing. So Im a little confused now....i listened to keifer speak a bit about her contest prep and he says that she is on a modified carb nite but i have no idea what this would mean. I think I heard him say that he incorporates intra workout dextrose shakes? I was thinking of maybe doing a CBL on Wednesday and then a full on CN on Saturday? Any suggestions? If I can get some muscle mass I would love to compete again...it would be my 3rd show but it has been a few years. Keifer also mentioned that he almost NEVER puts a women on strictly CBL...so just a bit confused. Thanks in advance 🙂

CBL is a lot trickier for women, but Julia Ladewski does it. Alex I don't think does CBL except post-contest to replete herself. I think she strictly runs Carb Nite, but she says herself she puts on muscle very easily. So you might need a different strategy than her.
