FairyKeymasterDid anyone see at the bottom of one of Kiefer's articles where he said that birth control hormones *are* steroids…?I'm on about 0.5ng/ml of progesterone per day, which is a steroid, and have been for five years (implant in my arm). I'm just wondering what the implications of this might be?

Craig jonesParticipantDon't panic it doesn't mean your on the roids. There are all different types of steroids. Estrogen is anabolic for fat tissue not muscle for example.

FairyGuestWow…well, I'm glad I'm not on estrogen. I can't find what progesterone is anabolic for, I read the whole Wiki article and no cigar 🙁

Craig jonesParticipantNo but you are a woman and there for produce more estrogen, that's why women are not as lean as men. Sucks to be you lol

FairyGuestExcuse me, it does not suck to be me thank you very much 😉My hormones have done a very good job of sculpting my body into an hourglass shape, which is the way it should be 🙂The only concern I have is that if I'm artificially elevating one of these hormones over a long period of time (might last for a whole decade) it could have some negative implications and I'd like to be more aware of them. So if anyone has any info or thoughts, please spill!

Craig jonesParticipantYou do realise I was joking? 🙁
September 16, 2012 at 12:35 pm #82176
FairyGuestUh, I still have an aversion to being told that it sucks to be me 😉Many a truth is told in jest.

Craig jonesParticipantStatement retracted. No offence meant and to be honest I'm quite offended you think I would do that. I don't know you so I shouldn't of over stepped the mark. Sorry.

so when I say you're super hot, should I make a witty joke or come straight out and say it? I feel like witty jokes are more fun but I'm guessing a lot of us will say it again in some form or another.

Sorry Craggy. I meant to respond in a playful manner. I'm being a bit tongue in cheek myself, though I understand if that's not coming across in plain text.I'm going to add in some smilies so you can see how I'm responding 🙂

FairyGuestBetter?
September 16, 2012 at 12:58 pm #82181

FairyGuestAh, no worries. I will continue to liberally use smilies 😀 It was obviously a lack of smilies that caused the miscommunication 😉

It is a "steroid" hormone, technically speaking. The "pregnancy" hormone. From what I read, it can reduce sodium-retention in women, which in turn can lessen the chances of a 'pump'. Most of what it does is centered around the reproductive system (like increased thermogenesis during ovulation, regulating effects of estrogen, reducing the risk of cancer in the uterine lining). If you have specific worries, definitely ask your prescribing doctor.Cory
