jimbo40MemberIs there a way to determine how long the 5g would spike insulin for?
August 26, 2012 at 8:01 pm #70731
FairyGuestEveryone's different, even the time of the day that you take it would change how long insulin was elevated for

jimbo40MemberFair enough I figured it would be tough to find any reasonable time limit but thanks for the input.

cookiebParticipantHi All, I know this thread is old-ish, but figured I'd ask here anyway. Currently doing CNS/Detox, and have been taking whey PWO, and again before bed. Going by the protein/fat recommendations for the detox diet, and factoring in the whey when I calculate protein for the day, I am absolutely starving. How important is the whey before bed. I left it out last night, and instead, just had more steak at dinner time because I needed solid food! I feel way better today, and not nearly as hungry as I have been over the past 2 weeks. (yesterday I was practically panicking over how hungry I was between the time I finished my lunch at work, and the time I got home to cook dinner)Anyway - Female, 140LBS, 32, probly 19% BF

The whey at bed is really not detox at all! I think doubling the portions of fatty cuts of meat at each meal will be fine. Don't worry about calories on the detox. I was eating upwards of 3000-3500 on my detox and still dropped a crazy amount of weight. Eat until full, and if your hungry eat again. Just keep it to the meals for the detox.

cookiebParticipantSo happy I could cry right now. Thanks. Sick of being hungry, and definitely NOT something I'm used to since I've been a low carb dieter for over 7 years. Glad to be able to up the calories a bit. I went on the recommendation of someone on the facebook page (who actually posted the article from Flex where the Detox was published), of eating 1 gram protein per pound of lean mass, and matching the fat. So that's been roughly 130-140 grams each, total cals never more than 1800 or so. Used to eating between 1800-2500, and all of it food (just started the pwo isolates)Nearing the end of the second week, and planning on doing another week strict like this (but will have a carb nite Sunday)....Suggestions of food I could add back in? Can't believe I am living without cheese on everything - I think I can keep that up, but really missing condiments - specifically mayo and blue cheese dressing. Also sausage and pork. Thanks a BUNCH for the replies! (I have a feeling I could be doing even better if I was eating enough - I am pretty active)

Commercial mayo is not ideal unless you are getting the kind made with EVOO. If you can make your own that would be the best. Same thing with blue cheese, and cheese in general. It seems to stall out a lot of people. I know that after I finished the detox that I had a very high intolerance for milk products. So test what you like, but I would probably keep dairy to a minimum. Add back in sausage and pork whenever you want! Bacon is always encouraged in mass quantities! I would keep your meals around fatty cuts of meat. The point of the detox is to really clean out your cells, so they are primed! So run it for as long as you like. I know that I am a fan of real food over shakes so that's always a good thing!

I don't think there is a problem with them. Just some people have the gluten problem them.

FairyGuestOh, I'm sure there are gluten free ones. Is gluten-free big in the US yet?

cookiebParticipantHi all, again thanks for the replies. The copy of the detox diet I have from flex mag, says beef bacon & eggs besides coconut oil and green pepper. So I've really been sticking to it. Came off three weeks of CBL that I did mostly to give myself a break from dieting, but I don't feel right when I eat carbs. Felt better the day after I started detox. So, it's definitely working in many ways for me.@ pshannon - I do make my own mayo (recipe from everyday paleo), and the blue cheese dressing I buy is called simply dressed (with I think 10 ingredients, expensive, but worth it for a yummier salad). I will probably leave other cheeses out, simply cause I am fine without them.Excited to be adding sausage back in - gluten free, of course (usually from a local meat market - delish) I'm super sensitive to gluten, so definitely careful of that.Excited and scared about having a carb nite too....I don't want to screw up the good stuff I've got going on, but know I need to replenish - looking deflated for sure.Another question, was going to ask on Facebook. Been dying for Strawberries. When in the world can I have a few of them? Along with bananas, the only fruits I've ever liked, and seem to have been craving lately (but that could be the under 10 grams of carbs a day talking trash in my head)

Yes and no. Yes in some stores they actually care and no because it's just thrown on the shelves and not really organized.
