    Looking for some input on Carb Nite ;

    I’ve been doing CarbNite before and had great results from it and after falling “off the wagon” for a while, I’ve been doing CNS again the last 5-6 months and lost about 10kg over this period.

    After some persuasion my girlfriend joined this protocol in january, but she’s been struggling to see any significant fatloss. She’s now 7 months postpartum, and she had gestational diabetes but managed this trough eating mostly low carb in the last half of the pregnancy. She lifts heavy 2-3 times a week, mostly compound movements.

    She regularly have fasting blood glucose between 108 and 117, which seems weird as long as the carb intake is very low 6.5 days a week. During the day the blood glucose is fine. Could this be limiting the results she’s seeing, and should she be worried about this? Are there any good tips on how to improve the FBG?

    Is the answer to just count macro’s and try to tune this or can being to low on total calories be the issue?

    Hard to know where to turn as the medical professionals in our country will just turn to low fat, whole grains, insulin shots and more excersise…

    I would highly suggest having her count her macros, and adjust certain calories to make her self better. The fact she went low carb in the last half of the pregnancy is something I wouldn’t recommend at all, just this is very personal opinion (no doctrine degree or anything).

    When I said “mostly low carb” it meant she ate carbs when she felt she needed it and rest of the time she just went with low carb dishes. The option would’ve been insulin injections, and she thought that would do alot more harm then lower carb.

    Back to the current situation, I asked her a while back do to a log on myfitnesspal and what she actually logged seemed to be low calorie. I’ll ask her to do another round of that, but what is a good way to figure out how many calories you need and is the 50/50 protein/fat ratio still a good starting point?

    She needs to get her insulin resistance and possibly any other metabolic issues under control first. JMO asking for advice on an internet forum probably isn’t much better than just guesswork. To the best of my knowledge, there are no degreed health professionals here. Read some books on the topics and get some solid research so that you can do best for her before possibly making things worse.
