cloudybrainParticipantI think this would be a good idea to use as assistance to the actual lifts, but I think replacing the main lifts with this I think is a terrible idea. I have never done what he described, but I have done one armed farmer's walks before and I thought it was decent for core strength, but I still think just lifting heavy gives you better results as far as core strength is concerned.I would imagine if you do the "offload" lifts, I would use a rather light weight because using a heavier weight will probably wreak havoc on your nervous system and would be rather dangerous.
Exactly! Sorry if I wasn't clear on this. :-[

FairyGuestOkay. Well, uneven loads are always harder to lift, so I guess this would go without saying.

guitarjonParticipantOkay... It's just that I can DL more than my body weight but I STILL struggle with moving furniture. WTF? :/
Couches are awkward......deadlift 3x BW, it will get easier.
I put on a lot of muscle 10 years ago when I delivered furniture, that shit works.

You are still going to struggle with furniture if you can only deadlift your bodyweight because that isn't that much. You don't have an impressive deadlift until you can deadlift twice your bodyweight. And that is normal standards, not powerlifting standards (which would be much higher).

AdamFiddlerGuestWhy wouldn't you just pick up a piano or a rock if you wanted to simulate picking up a piano or a rock?

Wouldn't that force you to go into bad posture and cause joint problems in the future? I think lifting weights force you to be proper just in case you do have to lift a piano or a rock.

Richard SchmittModeratorThey didn't have played weights back in the day, picking up rocks and logs seemed to be ok for those back then. Just a thought

btruongGuestThe problem with moving furniture and deadlifting is that furniture has different weight distributions…they're awkwardly shaped sometimes and it's difficult to always get the best grip. so I wouldn't worry too much about it 😛
