hi guys, ive been on cns for quite a while now and im going a little nutty, cravings are getting insane. Im considering taking a break just for my sanity, maybe 2 or 3 weeks. hopefully nothing nutty, i dont want to indulge too much. especially since im the kind of guy that might just eat like i would on a carb nite for 2 weeks straight.obviously, the best scenario is to keep on doing CNS, but has anyone tried taking a break by either switching to cbl (in moderation) so i can have some carbs more than once a week or would it be better to just eat like a normal person and have a few carbs throughout the day? i expect either scenario will require me to go through a reorientation phase anywayI really wish i had the will power to go more than 6 mos on CNS like a lot of the guys here, so any tips on how people dealt with the (for lack of a better term) breaking point would be greatly appreciated

This is kinda weird. When I'm on CNS, my cravings completely disappear except the day after my CN.A middle ground could be adding a second CN each week..

i find it incredibly weird as well. the first few months were no problem. it got to a point where if i saw a carby treat i particularly liked, Id buy it and stash it till carb nite without any temptation to eat it before then… now if i have leftovers from carb nite, i have to give em away or else they wont last till next carb nite. I originally chalked it up to just being on the diet for so long and the little frustration thats coming with the scale not moving (im still shrinking but the scale hasnt moved in over 2 months)

How long have you been on it?  I'm coming up on 6 months at the end of September and I plan on adding another CN each week as a diet break for at least a month.

going on 7 months… although a 2nd CN after an intense session (kinda like CBL) sounds like a reasonable plan. at least there'll be some semblance of control (you can see i don't have much faith in my willpower hahaha)

This is really a choice you have to make for yourself, there is no “right, or sure shit answer” here.I can tell you from what I know, and understand. That I personally would not stop CNS, and go to eating carbs when ever again. Thats going to two things, 1. Give your body a shock (could be a good or bad one) and 2. Up your daily intake to quickly. Number two COULD lead you to gain body fat. I know it would me.My recommendation is you do a shortened CNS. Keifer has updated that "6 Months on the diet" theory and has said several times that this is something a person could do for the rest of their life to maintain a healthy body.Have you read CBL? or do you have access to forums? You could do the minimum CNS time (4 ULC days). Or run some sort of modified CBL.Basically extended a BL through a few days of ULC to slowly get calories and carbs back into your diet. Thats what I am currently doing, but not for the same reason, I am transitioning from CNS to CBL to gain mass...

yup i have read CBL i have access, id love to do that, but I wanted attack my high bodyfat first (at around 26% now)  yeah i heard that he's said the "6 month limit" in the CNS book no longer applies. I've actually gained a significant amount of muscle on CNS (since i started with my BF in the high 30s) and honestly as "break" from CNS I've considered doing full blown CBL since i've been on a "cutting phase" of sorts for almost 2 years it might be nice to go on a short "bulking phase" and see how much muscle i can pack on in 2 months. Your suggestion though of going on the lower limit of the CNS (in my head it was every 5 ULC days, but you're right it's on the 5th ULC day that one can have a carb nite). I intend to make it work a little bit like CBL would, meaning go hard and heavy in the gym before CN and try as much as possible to have HIIT the morning after. Thanks for the Ideas, i'm going to try sticking to my once a week CN for 2 weeks, hopefully.. i just calm down and go back to before, but if not this modified backload might be the break I need!

Hope you work it out! I have a blog in “Rouges” section of CBL if you want an example of a modified CBL
