Powergirl36MemberHey everyone,Last night, I backloaded and had ice cream and dairy, and got MAJORLY sick afterwards... So I figured out I'm sensitive to dairy... Well, this morning I had coffee with 1/3 cup coconut milk and then 1lb bacon at 10AM, and my stomach is KILLING me... I don't know why, but it's making me keel over... Do you have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorIt sounds like it's just an issue with fat digestion.Try looking into some digestive enzymes like betaine HCL or NOW foods super enzyme.

maxwkwMemberI have a hard time with coconut if I have too much. Try cutting back on that to see if that's what it is.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI get the same issue from to much coconut oil, popping 1-2 betaine tablets always fixes it.I don't have the issue with pure MCT oil though, so you could also look into that versus coconut products.

Not to hijack but I'm going to try this. I'm the same way where I can do mct oil with no trouble.

maxwkwMemberGood luck. The only suggestion I'd have is to make sure it's what your doctor thinks. Anecdotally some people have a hard time with fats if their gallbladder isn't working properly (not that I have any idea of the mechanism there) Again, just get yourself healthy then try adding things in and adjusting as you see fit.

ChuckMemberI would avoid the Green Tea; if you drink it on an empty stomach it will kill the good bacteria (flora) in your gut. Also my body rejects fat, MCT Oil and what not. So completely speculative I would do.This diet of course isn’t optimal but isn’t a deal breaker either.1. Morning I would have caffeine pills or caffeine gum to induce the fat burning-I would avoid inflammatory fats, almond, walnuts, etc. 2. Maybe have a protein shake, try banana usually helps with the taste. 3. I would backload like you said and avoid fatsYou know you may want to go gluten free for a few weeks and see if that helps. Check out this article on celiac disease: http://health.yahoo.net/news/s/nm/one-of-every-100-u-s-whites-has-celiac-disease

Powergirl36MemberHaha I've been gluten free for a long time. I have VERY serious celiacs disease and can't even have 1 millionth part of gluten…

ChuckMemberPhysiologically there are some issues that hinder your potential…… but I still think you can tailor this diet to you. Oh another one would be to include some probiotics, to help with the digestion.

Powergirl36MemberDo you know of any ways to have my protein in the AM with no fat, and blunt the insulin response?

Powergirl36MemberHave you ever heard of inulin?
August 15, 2012 at 8:03 pm #74696
ChuckMemberYea I have heard of inulin but have never tried; it is suppose to help your digestion and aids in probiotic area to help flora. I would try it if I were in your shoes.Checkout Swanson vitamins they have everything for a better price.

I am not sure but would a slow digesting casein be less insulin spiking than say a whey isolate? Mabye something to look into, but get healthy/safe before anything! Hang in there.

missmarceGuestHi there, Have you ever looked into FODMAP foods? They are basically groups of foods that certain people have a difficult time digesting, especially those with a compromised gut. Since you have such a severe case of celiac, Im certain you have a damaged gut and could benefit from some dietary modifications. Coconut milk, unfortunately, is very high in FODMAPS. Heres a great article http://chriskresser.com/fodmaps-could-common-foods-be-harming-your-digestive-healthI would also advise cutting out the dairy, as it can be difficult to digest as well. I have an autoimmune condition myself and have had to make some changes to see improvement. One thing I do is make bone broth which is very healing. I also just discovered a recipe to make jello from herbal tea that is really good! The gelatin is also healing and soothing to a damaged gut. Let me know if you want me to send you the recipes. Eating these foods religiously has really helped my digestion and stomach issues.
