Trevor G FullbrightModeratorMagnesium citrate, AKA natural calm. It will get you moving. And again, some solid digestive enzymes, it will help massively with your health and impaired digestive function.

maxwkwMemberI'm also realizing that (sorry if this is TMI) I am EXTREMELY backed up. I haven't had a bowl movement in over a week, and I think it has to do with lack of fiber.... do you guys have any ideas? I would give anything to have this move...
OH MY GOD over a week?!?!I mean I know men poop more often than women but that has to be incredibly uncomfortable. I'd definitely talk to your doctor about that. I'd recommend fiber, but since you're already talking to your doctor I'd ask him/her

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorIt's really common when going from lots of fiber to little to none to get backed up.Weening off of it is the best bet, but to late now. Try the magnesium for a day or two, it shouldn't take long.Don't get Mag Oxide though, it's useless.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorFor people that have a really messed up gut and disgestive system, supplemental fiber might help at first, but it will make things worse and destroy you gut lining. Plus it can cause backloading to backfire.

pshannonMemberWhy is everyone dancing around the main point here….You should probably not be on this diet. I'm sorry to say this, but if your trying to dance around fat, the most important part of the diet, its probably not going to work. You have a VERY VERY serious medical condition, and your VERY limited in the amount of food you can eat. You should probably enjoy food when you can and how you can. Is it worth this amount of pain?

When is a good time to take the Natural Calm during a CN? I'm curious because I bought some today.

I take it at night because it also helps relax you and make you sleepy.I like to give an hour before bed just in case I need to make a trip to the bathroom.

While this might be true, I don't think the it isn't impossible to handle this diet. The biggest thing is she has more digestion and doesn't seem to have the bile production to properly digest fat.I really think before giving up the diet she should try some enzymes, maybe use some ox bile extract to increase bile. Most people that can't digest fat due to gallbladder issues see massive improvements with taking ox bile or other really good digestive enzymes.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorSomething you might also look into doing is do the detox diet, with possibly the addition of some white rice or sweet potato for some carbs, and make some bone broth. That stuff works magic with helping to heal the gut.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorThere is stuff around the forums about it.It's Kiefers detox diet, it's normally ULC, but since you have issues with going past 3-4 days that's why I suggested adding Sweet potato or rice.

pshannonMemberI have multiple immediate family members that deal with your condition every day. I am not ignorant. Take it as you like. Sorry for your nerve

I think that's a great idea! Basically backloading but with white rice and potatoes for the carbs! I'll do that as that will most definitely be easier on my stomach than say cookies and candy... I might throw some marshmallows on top of the sweet potato too! There's got to e a way to do it. The Betaine HCL helped me tonight with some fats I ate...
Glad to here it.Everyone that I've had switch to a high fat diet I've had use betaine, it's the best way around the period of enzymatic up-regulation.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI think that's smart.Coming off a low fat diet you need time.I came off a low fat diet and had 250+g of fat in one day during the first week. I slept in the bathroom that night, haha.

Richard SchmittModeratorHey guys,Do you think it would be a good idea for me to eat ad libitum for say, 2 weeks, but only, slowly add fats into my diet, and then go from there? I think it might be good to get my body normalized before I do any more...
Slowly adding fats is a good idea yes. I know of studies that they have done with dairy by slowly adding small amounts into their meals and now they are literally cured from being lactose intolerant. They are trying this method with other food allergies.

T_T I tried that Natural Calm by the way...2 Tsp last night before bed and 2 Tsp this morning after HIIT...still nothing. Pretty backed up.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorTake 3-4 tsp at once in warm water. Taking the normal dose keeps you healthy, taking extra is what causes that runs.
