Justin GuimondParticipantHey, anyone have advice on brining t-levels up? If I need to to optimize my muscle growth… my bloodwork came back with a 21.7nmol/L, which is slightly below average for my 28 years male frame. I'm going to ask the doc his opinion, but I also wanted to ask my fellow swole-seeking peoples.Bio-identical? Synthetic? Creams?Sources (trustworthy online pharmacies, etc.)?Thanks y'all.

Justin GuimondParticipantAnd Caino, mind my asking if you've had your levels tested since you went on the gel? and what kind of muscle-building effect you found the changed levels to have?

joe boulwareGuestI see you are only 28 but you have to go to a mens specific doctor and or aging related doc. Because regular doctors suck on this subject.

atomicusMemberIn my experience your average doc is rubbish at reading blood work. You'd think they'd know their stuff, but I've had some odd conversations with my GP where it felt like I was educating THEM, based on little more than 5 minutes of Google-searching my end!! An experienced endocrinologist is who you need to speak to about this kind of thing really. 🙂

Matt007MemberAgree with the others. Find a good hormone specialist or endocrinologist. They understand the system far, far better. A strong word of warning. You're young, and if you start introducing exogenous testosterone into your body, often the case is you can never, and I do mean never, turn back. Creams, Gels and intramuscular/sub q injections WILL shut your natural testosterone production down. If they prescribe something for you, make sure they prescribe something to a) keep your natural system working (such as HCG sub-q) and also non aromatising agents like Nolvadex/clomid etc. do you research. Do not start this lightly. I'd also say from personal experience and that of many others, the gels are next to useless and very, very expensive. The best and most beneficial way to introduce testosterone into your system is sub-q or intramuscular injection. To keep levels relatively normal you want a long acting esther like enanthate, and optimally twice per week, otherwise you tend to 'crash' and have to deal with the sides. Again. Do your research. See what the endo says, there may be a valid systemic reason in which case they'll help you as best they can. If its something that they believe will remedy naturally, then hold off until HRT is a valid option (and not bro-science gym reasoned HRT). Good luck.

You ever take 1500mg/tribulus per day? that usually fixes me right up.As far as creams and stuff go, even if you do get it from the doc it's going to provide minimal results. If you have a prescription, there are a ton of online pharmacies that will fulfill your order. Just gotta do some google-ing - Personally, the if your going to do it, i'd go for HRT/TRT - @100-150mg shot of test + HCG you should be feeling pretty damn good. A lot of ppl see problems with this but fuck them anyway... you will feel great. I know people who stopped taking all sorts of anti-depressants and stuff after going this route. Low-T sucks!

LedogParticipantStay away from the creams and/or supplements that claim to raise T levels. Go find a doctor who specializes in low-T and have him/her write the script for your blood work. This type of doctor knows what tests need to be done and how to read the results. Your total Testosterone can come back fine, but you could still have low level “free” (I believe this is the term my doctor used) testosterone and these are the ones that you really need to be concerned about. I started T-therapy about a year ago. My energy is back, my strength has improved, and of course the sex life is better. Strength training only increases these positives. On the down side this therapy isn't cheap. I get an injection every two weeks at $75 each. You must also have your blood work done every six months as T-therapy can raise PSA levels. Also, getting Tetosterone shots increases your blood iron a little too much, so making it a habit to visit your local blood bank every eight weeks is a must to keep your iron levels down.

I guess price varies on location... i know two guys who go to the same doc - totally diff health benefits and they pay about $80 for 6 shots. 150mg Cypionate shots + $40 for the HCG. Most people spend that along on OTC and Protein powders!

LedogParticipantUnfortunately for me, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida pays nothing towards my Testosterone Therapy. Also, I am told by the Physician who runs the Men's Health Center where I go, the State of Florida requires a B-12 shot along with the Testosterone, so this raises the price. This also means two injections per visit. One in the arm and one a little south of there. After receiving the injection my T – levels will go up quickly and then start to descend the second week. I get my shots every other Monday and I do feel weaker during my Monday morning workout prior to the office visit. Although this could me mental and not physical. For me the positives outweigh the cost. I will turn 53 this Friday and I can honestly say I am in better shape now than I have been in a longtime. And getting a stiffy like I am 17 again is kind of nice too ;D

Tony SnowParticipantSo, I just came back from the Endo last week, and he ordered some additional blood test in addition to what my regular doctor did. He wants to check my Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (and a bunch of other stuff), but has told me he won't do anything unless the blood work shows some abnormality because he doesn't treat anything less than 300 for my age (50), as it is low, but it is low within the normal range for my age group. I believe my levels were 327. He also seems to think that my test levels will improve the more weight I lose, as he stated being overweight causes your body to convert test to estrogen. Does this sound right? I mean, my test levels have increased over 100 points with zero medication, weight loss, and strength training program in the last year...

Gl;itch.eMemberFirst off. Get your life in order then worry about test levels. Quick Test Boosting ChecklistEnough Sleep (7-8 hours of deep satisfying sleep consistently) (yes/no)Adequate Macros (includes Protein, Carbs, Saturated Fats and overall calories, i.e maintenance and above) (yes/no)Adequate Micros (Zinc, Magnesium, Vitamin A, E, Bs etc) (yes/no)Avoidance of Inhibitors (Polyunsaturated fats, Alcohol, Drugs) (yes/no)Avoidance of Unnecessary Stressors (work, relationships, excessive workouts) (yes/no)Amongst other things these are going to be the most powerful. If you want to experiment with something natural and cheap (and Im not kidding!) try a daily Raw Carrot. Sometimes its not about boosting testosterone its about reducing Estrogen and creating a more favourable ratio between the two. Usually when you boost Testosterone through herbal and pharmaceutical routes you just end up with higher Test AND Estrogen and the same un-anabolic ratio you started with.

Yeah, I keep hearing this over and over again, and my Endo also mentioned this. Came across a good article on reducing Estrogen:http://www.charlespoliquin.com/ArticlesMultimedia/Articles/Article/801/10_Ways_To_Lower_Estrogen_Toxic_Load_.aspx

Yeah they won't treat you unless you are below average because if you are normal and getting injections you'll be at a more "recreational" level, and their is a lot of risk in that. I think a bad diet is one of the primary causes of T-level problems, of course that is just my opinion based on my experiences and what i've seen. As far as estrogen, your body is programmed to maintain a certain balance of estro/testosterone, and their is plenty of room to create hormonal imbalance through all the things gl;tche mentioned; Reducing estrogen is good, but to maintain this you'd have to persistently use a man made drug like aromasin or arimidex - i believe they go back to whatever they were without assistance. just my 2 cents. Best thing is to lose fat get leaner and repartition your body. Basically undo everything you did up until now and then maybe you won't have to use any aromatase inhibitors

Maybe you can try Tim Ferris method also if you want. Cod liver oil together with grass fed butter twice a day. Google it tim ferris tripling testosterone and you ll get the method he has in his book.I agree with everything said above adequate sleep, magnesium, zinc etcAlso check all your grooming products that they dont contain parabens or other chemicals that interfere with testosterone (endocrine disruptors). Check your shampoo, shower gel, hand wash, face wash, everything. Also give these links a look they have good info into how to raise t levels naturally.I have been "suffering" with low t for the past 9 years, now im 26 and i have just solved the problem. I put suffering in " " because there's more real suffering going on in this world! If you need any help PM me i can give you more resources.http://www.artofmanliness.com/2013/01/18/how-to-increase-testosterone-naturally/http://www.peaktestosterone.com/
