do I count the protein I have had from the whey amongst my daily allowance. I should eat 135g protein and the total from whey today has been 35g. I ask because I have eaten my protein and carb allowance but am still hungry!

If you on prep phase, I'd just leave whey from your diet. that cause release insulin and that's why you get hungry. Get it only PWO or Carb days.

I am in prep phase. Yesterday was my starting day so it was tough to feel so hungry and imagine sticking to it for 10 days. I'll cut the Whey except for post w/o and hope that helps. my macros ended at  carb 28 (minus 9.2 of fiber)                                protein 148 (rather high!) 35g of this were Whey                                fat 76

bacon and eggs is a good meal that helps a lot for people feeling hungry during prep phase.. after a few days you will feel less and less hungry during the day.. remember you don't need to cut down on your fats at all so eat butter on everything, eat bacon, eat fatty meats.. plenty of things you can eat to not feel so hungry

I'm allergic to dairy so it's hard to keep the fats up as I can't put butter on everything I eat. I also have Familial Hypercholesterolemia so can't overdo the saturated fats either. Rally bad luck as I love them!I've read somewhere on this forum that plant fats aren't good. I'm hoping that's in comparison to animal fats?! I guess I have to rely on oils, mayo, avocado etc. Looking forward to adjusting to eating this way though.

Oils aren't great either (except coconut and MCT of course, and macadamia in moderate amounts)..

i'm allergic to dairy and gluten so my options are limited but there's plenty of differen't kinds of meats, plenty of vegetables, and i never get tired of coconut oil or bacon.. but if you have a condition were you can't handle high satuated fats this way of eating may not be the best for you as the best fats for you are mostly saturated

Eloise–1) Look into ghee.. it's basically butter with the dairy removed. You can actually make it yourself2) I'm pretty sure that you can still have plenty of saturated fats with FH. Check out some of Jimmy Moore's stuff on FH, and in his upcoming book "Cholesterol Clarity." When it comes to cholesterol, you have to question pretty much everything that mainstream tells you because the science behind what is practiced in standard medicine is WAY out of date and narrow-sighted.

They sell ghee at Trader Joe's now, just picked up a bottle a few weeks ago, good stuff.

You can take whey on your prep phase. Just keep it to the 10g recommended in the AM shake. This will not spike insulin. Kiefer even recommends 20g in the day on prep phase, if you look at his example diets in the book.

Ghee also makes me throw up but funny you should mention Jimmy Moore as I was just listening to him on a podcast whilst driving home. I paused it so I could listen and take notes. I will definitely get his new book. Thank you for this info. I love animal fat and also believe it to be the most healthy but my doctor literally told me I would die of heart problems!!!!!

Ha. I just re-listened to his interview on Balanced Bites podcast, and listened to his interview on Everyday Paleo podcast.. He's a goofy guy, and definitely has a gift of communication. I definitely plan on buying his book as well, probably a very interesting read.Out of curiosity, is your doctor guessing/assuming you have FH, or did you actually get the genetic test done to verify? And if the latter, did they specify if you're homozygous or heterozygous? (Jimmy made it sound like if you just have chronically elevated cholesterol, doctors will just chalk you up to FH, whereas in reality, most people don't actually have FH, they just have a naturally higher cholesterol level)

Great info!I was told there was no specific test for FH but my apo B was high & apo E normal. I do have very high numbers though and it does appear to run in the family. I also have a thyroid issue that I'm dealing with so that may bring the numbers down.
