So I know the ideal time to train is at 5, but today im working out at 4. I know in the sample meal plans it says to eat 2 hours later. Assuming my workout lasts until 530 what should I do? Can I still add carbs to my pwo shake?

Yes, carbs in the PWO Shake is fine at that time. I go between 4-4:30 and finish around 6. The ideal time is between 3-6

30 min after PWO still okay to hit the carb meal?

It's generally a good idea to space it out so yes, after a PWO shake I'd wait 30-60 minutes before a carb meal. This is what I do.

The ideal time is actually as late as possible in the day while still giving yourself enough time to backload.  The ideal time for me is 7.  I personally like to recommend that your training session should END 4 hours before your bedtime. However, anytime after 3 is probably fine for most people.

Of course. I also thought I remember it being mentioned by Kiefer about that time frame. I've always thought that. I agree about it being at least four hours before bed, especially if taken a Pre-Workout supplement.

Damn. So what about the fact I'm going out tonight and dont plan on being home until say 1AM (will also be drinking)?

if your drinking too i would personally do a large sans carb pwo shake, then before going out eat a carb meal. then when your hammered if your like me youll be getting in some carbs on the way home from dennys or something haha.

I have only sans carb on CBL one time (i no longer drink so i have never been in your situation on CBL). But large sans just have some BCAA (or at least 5g Leucine) and 30-50g of fast digesting Whey. Plus the normal amount of creatine you would have. This will give you a good spike without carbs. I would recommend some trashy carbs as your meals too or if you go clean just make it the first meal before you go out with another (smaller) whey+leucine shake

When Kiefer says that he assumes you are going to bed around 11 PM.

This is good advice.  However depending on carb needs and the types of drinks, I would consider having a post workout carb meal.  For instance I usually need at least 300 g of carbs in a backload and I only drink light beer when I'm out, so I would have 200 g of carbs PWO before I go out and have a smaller carb meal before i go to bed.If you only need 200 g of carbs and you're drinking Margaritas all night, you might be better off not even having a carb meal.

Sounds like a game plan to me. Are you a drunkin eater too? because youll probably want/need more carbs than that. i always just assume when people say they are going out drinking that later that night they will also be spending a shiny quarter on some post-alchohol food too. Not saying its optimal but neither is drinking. And if your going to be doing it anyway than that may as well be part of your BL. Now if you really slam after drinking you may want to rethink that pizza and have some rice and chicken before going out. and have those 3am pancakes/waffles and bacon with joy hah

having a PWO carb meal is what i had suggested. Just a sans carb PWO shake, followed by a meal later before going out.
