I know it is suggested to “lower your training volume by 40%” when Carbs are depleted, however I'm not sure as to best way to do this.Does this mean, 40% of the weight you were doing? or 40% of the amount of sets / reps? For instance: Let's say for Chest on a normal "full of carb" day I do:Bench 5 x10 @ 200lbs.Incline 4x10 @ 135Incline Flye 4x10 @ 45lbsDips 4x10ISO Hammer Machine 4x10 @ 135To lower this by 40 % would i do:Less Weight / Less Reps / Less total Exercises / Or Less Sets? Thanks
Well being smart about training is the point, and where did you hear to cut your training down by 40%?210 Reps Total *.4 =84 to take off, giving you a max of 126 Total Reps, which you don't have to hit. Something that could be helpful:Bench 4x8-10Incline 3x8-10Dips 3x10
I think it was said in a recent podcast (in the last few months because I remember hearing it too). I figured SW was the easiest way to do it. I remember he said it because I was doing my old lift routine when I started CN and didn't know how to figure 40%….then went with SW.
This. Most days you'll be fine, but listen to your body - if that means less reps/sets, do less. Just don't overdo it. I find myself doing less as the week goes on from my CN, which makes perfect sense to me being ULC and one CN a week. Do what you can and feel good about what you've done.
I agree. Before I started SW, I had to just do what I could do….focused on the heavy lift, then added in what I felt i could after (supplemental lifts that correspond to the heavy lift I was doing).
