RoaringMad MacMemberMy training partner who has alot of muscle and not alot of fat is of the thought process that just eat as much as possible throughout the day, or the typical mass building diet. How would I convince him to at least try the carb back loading to gain extra Muscle Mass. Am I making sense here. Here are some pics of him so you know what I'm dealing with. I would like to see if the carb back loading would put more quality muscle on him before he starts dieting in February to step on stage. http://forum.illpumpyouup.com/showthread.php?t=15238

I would show him the last issue of MEN'S FITNESS where Arnold was the guest editor. He quickly asked about CBL. And, I think I saw a link here somewhere about where he is doing it now and references CBL on his website.

RoaringMad MacMemberYep showed him that already. Believe me I see almost all of Arnold's stuff on his website when it comes out. LOL

mooselorooseGuestI used to compete, and I placed really well as a middleweight. Did 3 natural shows and placed 2nd, 1st, 1st as a middleweight. And believe me I wish I had CBL around when I was competing because I would have been bigger with the same definition without killing myself with cardio. I know it can be really rough trying to change someone's mindset. But I will say, if he plans on just eating anything to put on mass, then diet down on stage, he's planning to fail. I'm not trying to be a dick, but based on the pics I saw, his hormones are all fucked up. He looks like he has some insulin resistance, and he def has too much estrogen in his body. However, with that being said if he starts CBL, and starts with the 10 day restructuring period he can fix his insulin resistance problems, and might be able to fix the estrogen problems. unless its from gear than thats a completely different convo and he might need to run an AI. Starting the day with an intermittent fast then going ultra low carb before your workout really cleans up your body because it sets you up in a fat burning state all day. Once he wakes up and loads his body with let's say 1cup oatmeal and 7 egg whites (typical BB approach) then he turns off the fat burning, and because he has some insulin resistance, he can actually turn his body into a catabolic state (even though he ate protein with it). Hope this helped. Again I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but after all it is bodybuilding. IT BREATHES CRITICISM…

Brandon D ChristParticipantIt is going to be difficult to convince someone that is at a low body fat already to try CBL because it seems so wacky. It is something the person will have to decide themselves. When I first learned of CBL over a year ago, I thought it was a load of crap. I was in really good shape already so why change. I eventually came around though.Direct him to this website and ask him to read some of Kiefer's articles. They speak for themselves.

No not a dick at all and I really appriciate the advice. I will lead him here. He has really good potential and I don't want him to fail so that is why I'm asking. I want to see him get bigger and stronger but not tear his body up so much and like you said set himself up for failure.

mooselorooseGuestYeah its def worth a shot. At least he can say I tried it and its not for me, if it doesn't work out. But just like ibobland08 said tell him to read Kiefer's articles. The man is brilliant, probably the most significant diet expert to date. He actually has documented research to back up all his claims. No self proclaimed guru here.

RoaringMad MacMemberYep and that is what I like about him is he has the research behind him to prove his theories.

thrownullpointerMemberIf you really want to train like arnold you should start a regimen of steroids. That will make the mass come on nice and easy!

FairyGuestCarbs *are* steroids, silly 😛

Marty P KochParticipantI think it is futile to try to convince someone to switch methodologies – especially if they are having success with what they are doing. Unless you are in a position to pass him a diet that he will follow no questions asked, you are figuratively beating your head against a brick wall.Either show him up with your own astounding progress, or wait til he stalls and begs for a magic forumula - then the program will sell itself... just make him buy his own copy of the book for Kiefer's sake. 😉

Could not agree more here. The proof in the the results. You can throw study after study at a person but if they are not the type of person to be receptive to that info then you are spinning your wheels. Transformations on the other hand hold true to everyone, and CBL has plenty of those. My advice, plant the seed, if he is interested he will find his way. If not...he will learn the hard way like most of us have.

TomahawkMemberAll you can do is tell him about it. Then prove it works by showing him your results. Trust me I was skeptical when I first heard about CBL. It took me a year when I checked my email. The only real reason I gave it a shot was I was 2 months out of the gym and had to try something new.

RoaringMad MacMemberWell it worked after several months of me doing Carb Nite. I have gotten my partner to do carb back loading. He has been backloading now for a week and I just got a text from him and he said this in a text this morning Body is def still adjusting. Rough night last night. I was up every 30-40 min going to the bathroom. I woke up about 12:30 and my stomach felt like someone stuck an air hose down my throat. I looked pregnant. Now after shitting water all night and morning I can see my abs. Crazy. This is coming from a guy who is a carb addict and is doing this now. I told him this is the adjustment period and he will fell better once he adjusts. But this week I've already seen changes in certain aspects of his arms and back. It took months to talk him into this and I just hope he keeps it up.
