i've searched through the forums a bit, but i've had no luck finding the specific answer to my questions, so hoping one of you guys can help me out.i have 1000mg of tyrosine in pill form, and want to use it to hopefully help reduce cortisol levels during my evening training. if i took one pill about 20 minutes before i workout, and then another one about halfway through my training, would that be optimal? too much?i've also heard that it has to be taken on an empty stomach...so if i start to some of my shake halfway through training, does that affect it?thanks 🙂

You are probably better off supplementing with Tyrosine AFTER your workouts. I tried Kiefer's CNS (nervous system not carb nite!) protocol recently which had about 1.5-2.0g of Tyrosine and found that having it prior to my workouts made me horribly irritable and lead to terrible workouts. Taking them after just seemed to help me relax. You need a cortisol response to exercise otherwise you may as well not exercise at all! Its the hormetic effect of the stress response that allows you to adapt to training stimulus in the first place. After exercise and later in the day is when you want low cortisol. Not in the mornings and during workouts.
