MikehrMemberSo every morning I take about 1500-200mg of chewable vitamin C, (4 pills) on an empty stomach with my first coffee and CO. But after reading around a bit I found this, "Vitamin C requires the same amount of insulin and uses the same pathway that sugar does in the body. If you have adrenal fatigue your body is unable to properly antagonize insulin, which can drop the blood sugar too low.Vitamin C actually hightens the hypoglycemic effect because it isn't sugar, yet still causes an insulin spike. Not only that, but Vitamin C actually competes with the sugar in the blood for uptake causing even worse hypoglycemic symptoms (even though the actual blood glucose is normal, the body senses hypoglycemia due to the competition)."http://curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=1791268Anyone have issues with taking vitamin C, they do have dextrose listed in the ingredients as well but since they have no carbs I figured it was an extremely trace amount and probably ok

Richard SchmittModeratorUnless you cook it like a dextrose cured bacon/sausage then I would be weary of using Vitamin C if you found a study or article stating it spikes insulin. Just my opinion.

Cory McCarthyMemberPlease don't get too concerned. I take 3000mg per day, with meals, + what is in my 2 x one-a-day multi, and I have never had an issue with stalling.Just to be safe, and for better absorption, take Vit. C with meals. Ensure these meals include fat (which they should), as fat can help blunt an all-out insulin spike by steadying the effects.Cory

MikehrMemberyeah I agree with Cory, with a meal they should be fine. I think the issue with mine are they are the chewable ones and the third ingredient is dex, even though Carb count say 0

Haha yeah sorry to stress you out I figured it was worth posting for anyone like me who is taking it on an empty stomach, maybe switch to with a meal and see if progress improves!

jerryiiiGuestNot sure what else may be in the chewable. I'd check to ensure their not mixing in dextrose.

The multi is a Whole Foods Market 1-a-day. The Vit. C is generally a Now Foods product @ 1,000mg Vit. C per capsule, 3 x a day.Cory3000mg? Which brand do you use Cory?

Brandon D ChristParticipantIs there even a reason to supplement with Vitamin C? All the benefits I have ever heard about are all pop science.

I take it for immune benefits, and I hardly ever get sick (not even a cold). If I do get sick, even a nasty bug, it kills off in less than a day. I also take it for added joint support, and to aid absorption of other nutrients / vitamins.Cory

Well it's cheap so I guess if you think it helps you, I understand.

It is dirt cheap. LOL. Cheap, alone, isn't even an appropriate word.I figure, what my body won't use, it will just piss out, being water-soluable. Unlike with fat-soluable vitamins, which can reach toxic levels.Cory
