maniankaKeymasterHello All,I came across one of Kiefer's articles about 6 weeks ago and have continued reading his stuff and posts on this forum ever since. CBL and CNL appeal to me as I love muscles, don't want to lose any but instead gain. I am lifting 5 times a week to get ready for another show. I've competed a few times and have experienced the often used "starvation diet" plus crazy cardio sessions. I would be more than excited to never have to do anything this drastic again. So I started CNL about 4 weeks ago to give it a try and see how my body likes it and if I could use it to lean out. Unfortunately I seem to have gotten "fatter". A bit more about me: Height: 5' 7"Weight: 133Bodyfat: ? (I think I've usually been around 16% when not stage ready)I've always been an athlete (since the age of 3) and I consider myself an ectomorph. It's hard for me to gain muscle and I'm generally pretty lean (though I do carry excess weight and, like it goes for most women, it stubbornly sticks to my butt and upper legs). I do the 1:1 ratio, enjoy my carb nites, do HIIT the day after carb nite, and lift heavy 5 times a week. After reading more and more I've decided to now cut out (or limit drastically cheese and nuts) and eat cleaner on carb nite.Considering that I started CNL only 4 weeks ago I try to be patient and not get disappointed by the results so far. Also, I wonder if my body is still adjusting to this new diet after having done low carb/low fat/high protein before. I attach a pic of what I look right now. It's not bad but I definitely want to be leaner which would allow me to fit in some of my favorite pants. I would be happy about any comments but especially hope to find someone who, like me, is considering using (or already has used) this diet to get competition ready.Cheers.

mwachtelParticipantHow closely are you checking the 1:1 ratio? See what a little more fat to protein, and vise versa does for you. Also what are your fat sources you have been using?you say since going on CNS you think youve gotten fatter? Based of what?Could you just be mistaken it for being flat?

Richard SchmittModeratorWelcome and glad to have you here. I'm not sure of any females on the forums here that have used this diet to get stage ready. HOWEVER Alex Navarro got steady ready and won using Kiefer's methods. You can find her personally on Facebook if you message her and want some better information in regards to that. Ferg, a male member on the forums, used CBL to get stage ready and he won as well. If you need some more help with meals, or anything else please start up a log!Best of luck!

Evan PetersonMemberDid you take a pic before starting to compare to?It took my body a couple weeks for my body to adapt from the brown rice + chicken diet, even with the 10 day prep.

Damon AmatoParticipantMany of my female clients (even those exercising a lot) have trouble during the first 4-8 weeks, mostly because they came from some other kind of starvation diet. Based on your post, I'd guess your thyroid is not in great shape. That's based on limited information though. You may need more specific attention to get everything tweaked to your exact situation. Hard to tell just from one picture, but you've got quite a good bit of muscle on you too, so the “weight” gain could either be gaining actual muscle or finally refilling your glycogen stores to a point you haven't in a long while.

maniankaGuestWow, you guys are fast in responding. I was only gone for an hour… Thanks much!@mwachtel: I'm writing down exactly what I eat and stick to the 1:1. I eat beef, eggs, bacon, butter, co, use mayo or ranch when eating spinach... Anyway, I agree that tweaking one way or the other might do the trick. I'll try and log it. I say fatter because I see less definition than 4 weeks ago (abs are almost gone, arms look less muscular) and because I have trouble fitting into my pants (and I can tell if I gain muscle or "jello" to my backside).@BigTex: Thanks. Will nag Alex sometime soon. 🙂@EvanP: Yep, took a before pic. The difference is subtle but I can tell (as mentioned above especially when trying to fit into my pants). But good to know that it took some time to adjust. Definitely will keep that in mind. @Dmunnee: Interesting points. Thank you. I would not be surprised if my body is somewhat confused and messed up from previous diets. I will keep CN up and log any changes. THANKS TO ALL.

hmm your next CN I would go pretty wild, making sure what your experiencing is not "flatness" which can certainly make you feel and sometimes look "fatter"also maybe trying calorie fluctuation, one day 150%, next day 50%. Obviously your more active days are your 150% days, and so on.Oh, one other thing. Maybe, just maybe, try replacing more of your fat with C.O.The ranch would be the 1st thing i would replace....although i know everyone has their vices haha, just a suggestion.
