cassidyKeymasterwhen you backload do you watch the amount of fat and saturated fat you take in? I havent been doing it while eating junk food and my roommate is a nursing major he is making it sound like I am going to have a heart attack tommorrow. I was wondering should I start watching it?

Really, it is only necessary for the first meal. Try to keep it higher carb + protein, and lower fat. After that, eat what you wish (cakes, cookies, pies, etc.).Cory

kcarolhxwParticipantFat and saturated don't cause heart disease. That's a very complicated question. However, this diet is about getting jacked, not necessarily being healthy…obviously. Just don't go out of your way to eat fat, particularly hydrogenated vegetable oils or polyunsaturated fatty acids. He recommends MCT's, which are medium chain triglycerides of saturated fat.

I would. I started off doing two backload meals in the evening(I train in the morning) and really caring about what I ate and ballooned really fast so I made a change this week to do pretty clean backloads and keep the fats to minimal so see if I can start seeing better results. When I got CNS and started backloading I liked the way I look, now I just look big all the way around, with a tire around my waist.

Just in the first meal. After that, which I'd say about an 45 minutes or an hour, have a dessert without concern of fat. Just have that last meal at least 2 hours before bed. I guess half of us should have had heart-attacks by how much bacon we've consumed already then...

Brandon D ChristParticipantYou really need to watch your fructose intake rather than fat intake.

thrownullpointerMemberThe fact is you can't eat unlimited calories & expect to be lean. The only reason to watch fat is to watch calories.

FairyGuestIf you eat too much fat you just have serious thermogenisis for the next 12+ hrs (trust me, I know from experience 🙂 )

Problem with this is Ice-Cream and Chocolate Mud Cake is such a good PWO combo!

cassidyGuestSo even if they are bad fats like saturated fat as long as they are glucose and not fructose or HFCS they will go threw the blood stream and my body wont store it?

I work as a registered nurse for a living and unfortunately most people in the field of healthcare(including dietitians believe it or not) remain misinformed. One of my co-nurses who isn't particularly in good physical shape saw me eating bacon the other day and said she wished she was younger so that she could "splurge" like me and not gain weight. Meanwhile she was eating 2 oranges, an apple, and whole grain toast with egg whites. When I asked her if she had anything to eat when she woke up, she said just a bowl of Quaker Oats. This is the reality across most of the country, and I find it shameful how the general public continues to be fed a bunch of lies. Moments like that are the reason I joined the DH community.

Marty P KochParticipantSo per the info in Kiefer's new video segment, I just switched over to CBL after about 8 weeks on CNS with no results. What I'm struggling with is this: does the number for fat in the chart in the CBL book represent just the ULC portion of the day? And then in the Backload portion, the counter resets, so to speak? Because in my specific example, I come up with 29g Fat which doesn't go very far...I know we are all needing to experiment with it a bit, but just for a good jumping-off point this would be nice to know...
