Trevor G FullbrightModeratorIf you really have a hard time to get more food, eat less bread for sure, and less rice unless it's curry rice (The creaminess and fat make it much easier to down massive amounts.) and focus more on baked goods and ice cream.

thestiffmeisterParticipantThis morning, while my stomach was still bulging a little from the amount of food, I didn't have any bed marks or other symptoms of water retention. Also started peeing right away and after a couple hours, I had lost the bulge. Will step on the scale tomorrow to assess, but I think drinking only a little water with the carbs definitely helped. I only had a tall glass, and when my mouth felt dry later on I just chewed on some ice.I basically load on a combination of ice cream/frozen yogurt and pastries every single time. I even threw in a super fat chocolate bar yesterday. Got me to around 550 g and I'm just 5'7 150ish pounds, and it felt perfect.

randyleahyGuestBackloaded 2 days ago (enough that I felt quite uncomfortable), was watery in the morning the next day and by 5-6 pm the next day (ULC) I probably looked the best I have ever looked….never been that full and vascular before. As I write this enjoying sweet potatoes w/ ketchup and ranch…here we go again π

Do you go back and forth between CBL and CN?

shaerowMemberI had 550 g last night, so far, besides healing, I'm disliking the larger intake as I've lost definition. The odd part- skin's tighter, maybe b/c I was bloated this morning. But I'll let you guys know what my definition is like 2 days from now after the 2 HIIT sessions I plan to do the next days
What did you eat, it could be less about how much you eat and more about what you ate.
You can check my member log "Getting Ripped", but I did everything I was supposed to- basically, I had 3 separate doses of leucine/hydrosylate, I had a lot of chocolate milk (~9 fl oz), ~6 cups cinnamon toast crunch, a pint of ben & jerry's. I had all that w/ pork tenderloin (incredibly lean). I had only a little bit of broccolini, which isn't that much fiber at all (1 g) and 2 tbsp hummus, w/ 1/4 small tomato. I also waited to fall asleep so my growth hormone could still be secreted w/o insulin interference. I'll see if fat loss is promoted over the next 2 days at all. Also, maybe lifting at night would prove to have an outcome many others have had with bigger backloads. All in all, I don't think backloading that much would prove, at least in combination with morning lifts, beneficial.

shaerowMemberPlus, even Kiefer says, “don't eat like a fat kid” and limit carbs pending on how you feel- if soft- 1 carb meal (100-200 g carb), if feeling good/firm do what you've been doing or carb meal w/ dessert (~300 g carb), or if deprived/exhausted get a lot in

shaerowMemberRegardless of how I feel now, it may just not work for me, and works for some of you out there. I am very cautious when it comes to these things, hence I take Kiefer's word for. Stick to whatever you guys feel, but I will let you guys know if I do turn out to have a beneficial or unpleasant outcome. More definition in my body has reappeared as the day has progressed which is good, considering this morning I was extremely bloated. There's a good chance that perhaps the beneficial effects' onsets haven't fully set in. I'll be doing HIIT the next 2 days along with long duration walks, I'll let you know if definition truly differs.

You might also try avoiding gluten at some point, gluten cause's many people to bloat up pretty bad.

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorI do agree about needing to listen to your body and do what works for you though.

shaerowMemberI forgot to mention- everything I had last night was gluten free

shaerowMemberActually, I reconsider. Although it doesn't say anywhere on the ingredients whether gluten is present, there is a potential… checking
June 28, 2012 at 2:08 am #58367
shaerowMemberDamn. I have to consider the ingredients OF the ingredients, as companies don't care to fully explain what's in their product… I'll note that the next time. Might have to get rid of toast crunchΒ :'( . I still don't think that it's the main cause, though, since I've waited 4 hours after my load to go to bed. But it is most definitely noted

thestiffmeisterParticipantMy advice to you, even though I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to actually doing the protocol right, would be to wait before coming to conclusions. Guys that are naturally bigger will probably feel just fine in the morning, whereas for some of us it takes longer to assess the effects of the back-load, at least visually. shaerow, you have a good plan there.I may be an extreme case because for a guy my size I can put away extreme amounts of food which keeps my belly distended for a good part of the next day, going from a very visible 8-pack to looking pregnant in a short amount of time. For the opposite to happen, it usually only takes a day unless I do two back-loads in a row. You can shorten the amount of time it takes by doing vigorous activity and sweating it out, but I find doing a ULC day or two is the best way.By the way, 550 g is in no way excessive if you are an experienced/relatively lean trainee. I think some people have a perception problem when it comes to amounts. Play around with different tastes/textures, see what's easiest to put down. Last week I had a rough time finishing a box of comically huge cinnamon rolls after a box of turnovers and a half-gallon of ice cream on top of a pretty large dinner. I could have gone for chocolate or something else after that though π That took me a good 60 minutes.
