zewskiMemberSo you eat all your carbs in less than 2 hours instead of over the course of the night? You do this every time?
I sort of thought that's what we were supposed to do no? I know we want our insulin levels back down before bed at least correct?

Trevor G FullbrightModeratorBefore bed, yes.But you don't have to do it within a 2 hour window.Sometime between 4-6 is fine.

Richard SchmittModeratorI kept mine at least 2-3 hours as long as I don't feel uncomfortable or sick. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk

sebiffParticipantI hit 550 today and I also like to keep it within 2 hours, because I like to have a few hours to relax before going to bed. That´s my second backload in a row, tomorrow will be the 3rd aaaand then an ULC day ;D ( doing PHAT routine right now )

nickl413MemberI had been starting around 5 and finishing about 8 or 9. And I only get about 500 carbs before it feels like my stomach is going to tear open. Can't imagine 700 carbs in 2 hours.

JizzmoGuestwait hang on, you wrote that this morning. You smashed 5000 cals at 9am this morning?edit: oh different time zone....
well, its 8pm here 😉yeah, i prefer to eat all my carbs in just one big meal, i dont know why but its just more satisfying to eat 2 pizzas and half a gallon of ice cream at once instead of spreading that out through 6 hours, especially if you come straight out of a long diet 😛and yeah, i had to lay down at one point like an hour ago. never hit more than 5200 kcals before, but my stomach seems to be pretty good at adapting... im actually not really full anymore right now, could get in some more ice cream or whatever. in 2 weeks ill probably be able to hit 7000 (might try this at some point :)).

thestiffmeisterParticipantGreat sum-up right there ^^^^ I've found since starting Back-loading (didn't even mess around with small back-loads :P) I've been sweating like a MONSTER during my MMA sessions. If you think about it it makes sense, it's almost like all the food is just throwing coals on the fire. Once you cut back on food (fuel), your body will compensate by turning down your metabolism (bring down fire). The sweet thing with CBL is we get to keep the furnace burning, but due to hormone manipulation all the cals and carbs are only doing what we want them to (fueling growth, promoting fat loss).Stiffmeister (another great name), how spread apart are your back-loads?
I try to keep them 2 days apart, it seems to work best as far as keeping the bloat and possibly fat gain to a minimum, but sometimes one day is enough if I'm training twice a day and moving around a lot. When bulking I don't really care about the bloat as long as my lifts go up. I'm just 5'7 and around 150, often less and that's because I have been doing 4-5 back-loads a week for the past month or so. I used to hover around 145, so you can imagine a carb binge has quite the dramatic impact on how I look the next day.I used to wait between 3 and 5 days before, and while it accelerates fat loss, it makes me feel like crap because of the amount of training I do. Also, I need ephedrine or something like clen to get good training sessions in after more than two days of low-carbing, and since I stopped taking those evil drugs I found 2 days to be my sweet spot to keep energy stable.

shaerowMemberI've been wondering- When is the best time to literally stuff your entire body after a lift? And for how long? I tried doing it in 2 hours an hour after my lift/ post workout w/ 2 bananas and it hurt like hell

robbhenselGuestI'm new to CBL but have a good feel on metabolism and how the body reacts to types of diets. You have to remember backloading is teaching your body to be a furnace, all those carbs are stoking the fire that you creat by going low carb all day and keeping the fat burning firnace stoked, enter resistance training then slamming loads of carbs. What happens when you diet too long on low carbs? Thyroid output slows down grinding your results to a halt, how do people generally fix this, large cheat meals stoking the metabolism again. CBL is more complex tham that but that's the gist. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The reason you guys are lighter after backloads is because your metabolism is raging and once the water clears from your load you see the weight loss

Tanner FoxParticipant^^^Working off of that, any of you other guys with success from bigger backloads over 12% or are you all fairly lean?
I'm around 14% at 260lb. Larger backloads have always resulted in better progress for me.
If your last workout of the week falls on a friday are you still backloading with lots of carbs?
Assuming I lift Mon-Wed-Fri,I have tried two different things so far. Originally I would really cut down on carbs that Friday and only include them in the PWO shake, the go ULC the rest of the night. I would go ULC Saturday then load up Sunday for Mondays workout. No I am going full on backload Friday, backload Saturday (usually less junk), then ULC Sunday. I have found this has actually been working better for me but your mileage may very.Ultimately you will just have to try and see what works for you.

sjm-GuestWhat dou you guys do, when u trains like “TRAINING1” “OFF DAY” “TRAINING2”Do you guys CBL after that TRAINING1?
July 2, 2012 at 5:18 pm #58410
zewskiMemberWhy wouldn't you?

Tanner FoxParticipantWhat dou you guys do, when u trains like "TRAINING1" "OFF DAY" "TRAINING2"Do you guys CBL after that TRAINING1?
In this instance you would backload on TRAINING1 yes. The carbs will refuel your body from that days training session and load you up for the TRAINING2 day. This is assume you are going to be going ULC on the OFF DAY.

sjm-Guestye, exactly. Now, i train 2+1+2+2TRAINING - backloadTRAINING - backloadOFFDAY - ulcTRAINING - backloadTRAINING - backload (less junk food)OFFDAY - ulcOFFDAY - ulc, but in the evening i eat like 100g carbs for next training, like kiefer said

zewskiMemberAnyone on here doing large back-loads the nights before AM fasted training?I'm honestly a little scared to back-load if I haven't trained that day, especially to that degree :-Also I have boxing from 730-830 that same evening, is that a problem? The only reason I ask is because I saw it stated somewhere else that long distance cardio actually does the opposite of what we want weight training to do for CBL purposes, IIRC.
