dshugartsParticipantI don't know what to do my weight has not gone back down to what it was before my last carb nite and im not doing anything differently so the only reason I can think of is the stress of finals week, moving back home, and starting a new job?? Idk has this happened to anyone else?!
May 12, 2014 at 2:32 am #220563
Richard SchmittModeratorYes. Stress will play a huge role in weigh gain, stall, and loss.
May 12, 2014 at 2:35 am #220564
dshugartsParticipantWould salt also play a role? And should I wait to do another carb nite until I'm back down?

enhill73ParticipantAlso, I'm not sure about salt, but I know from my experience that it could be a sign of too big of a carb nite. Next time maybe dial it back some or think about what you had. My first carb nite I went a bit overboard and it took me about 10 or so days to lose it. You just have to play around with amounts/types of food to see what works best for you. I can't go really big on sugary deserts, but food like rice, potatoes etc work a lot better for me. Hope this helps…

Bradley R. CollinsParticipantAre you tracking anything else besides weight to gauge progress? I have had measurements drop without weight dropping before, which could translate to losing fat but building muscle.

dshugartsParticipantI ask about the salt cause I had like 15 peices of bacon and I was wondering if it was too much salt causing my weight not to go back down? And is that too much too much bacon in the first place

You need more salt then normal on a ULC diet.

dshugartsParticipantOk but is that too much bacon to be eating?

Not froma sodium point, but otherwise I don't know.I do recommend only using bacon as a side dish, not a main item.

TCBParticipantOk.. I'm just going to come out and say it…This is silly. It's ONE WEEK. Keep doing what you're doing and move on. "Weight loss" isn't linear, so there will be ups and downs constantly. If you don't make any progress (viable progress, not just weight on the scale) over 3-4 or more weeks, then you have, likely, legitimately stalled and need to make some tweaks. This is akin to saying something like "Last week I maxed my squat at 250, this week I tried 255 and failed. What did I do wrong?!" Answer: Probably nothing; just keep going and you'll likely see the progress sooner rather than later.

+1Thanks for saying this! My weight has been all over the place for the past few weeks, and this statement made me feel better.Hope that resonated with you too dshugarts!

primalsteveParticipantDon't forget, scales are UNRELIABLE at best…I feel for you, I've been hovering around the same weight for 2-3 weeks.. I lift (not body building levels) 3 days a week, and hopefully am gaining some lean muscle, as opposed to not losing fat.The Only measurements I ever took are 2 place around my waste (narrowest & widest), and it seems to be getting smaller... I'm in it for the long haul...

dshugartsParticipantIt just makes me nervous that I've gained weight because I am not back down to what I was before my last carb nite

daniel gillParticipantThis is happening to me as we speak. I know what caused it. Basically, Saturday, I was out with a friend of mine, and we decided to see who could eat the most meat. Here's a link to what I ate. https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/t1.0-9/10357461_10203785772661977_7583585249643800568_n.jpgpork ribs, beef brisket. I was so stuffed. Next morning, I gained 3 lbs. this is usually what happens to me on a carb nite. It's possible I ate so much, I triggered a some major insulin spikes? I have no idea. anyway, the next day, I did a carb nite as planned, and I'm up I'm thinking around 6 lbs right now, but I'm not even mad. In fact, I'm a little impressed with myself. 8)Watch for my new book "Meat Nite Solution" coming soon! 😉

my guess would be more than likely the sugars in the sauces on the meats caused your insulin spike. but hey if you cant have fun once in a while your not living!PS that pic looked hella good!
