I have a fairly serious training schedule. I train weightlifting (snatch and clean and Jerk). I generally train around 12 times a week for 4 or 5 weeks in a row with a back off week in which I train far less volume and usually only 7-10 sessions. My training times are usually 5:45-7:15am and around 4-5pm. These workouts are centered around snatch, clean and jerk, squats, and variations of the lifts/power versions. Is there any one else that uses carb backloading with a similar training protocol? I have the carb back loading book and have read most of it. I did have some questions though. Before I actually got the book and took some time to really look into this, I was mixing orange juice with my post workout shake. I am assuming this is not a good idea. What about just plain old white granulated sugar? Will that work? I do for the most part eat paleo, and there is a history of type 2 and other auto immune issues in my family, so I don't want to fall off the wagon and go nuts with gluten, dairy, or other processed foods. I'm not sure if my question, or questions are clear, so if you need any clarification please ask :-).

Use Dextrose, maltodextrin, a rice based or potato starch based poweder in your PWO shake.
