What about Mangoes for Carb Nite . . . too much Fructose?  Also, what about Pineapples?

mmm fructose is much less of a concern on CN (your liver glycogen should be empty), how many do you want?

Kiefer has said to keep it to 1-2 servings. Watch the Tubecast video

Which one is the tubecast concerning fructose?

Well fructose is an earlier one and a recent one about fruit for CBL or CNS.

is this the video you mean:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACZO4Bu-2sI(I think this link might just play all of them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACZO4Bu-2sI&playnext=1&list=PLr9WS73w1LIsZN0qvICtNqL27pNSGvUx5&feature=results_main)And do I understand the optimal thing for carbs for carb nites  would be highly insulinogenic and minimally processed and preferably low-ish in fructose?  And I guess "insulinogenic" would likely mean high in glucose or things that are similar to glucose or things that you body can quick break down into glucose . . is that right?I am a little confused about the eat junk advise vs the minimally process thing . .  which is more important?  ("Junk" sort of concern me . . I don't want to get hooked on sweets . . my preference is somewhat paleo-like . . although assuming this works for me for fat loss, I can be a lot less of a stickler about the paleo thing) Also for women/people who are small/people who don't have a lot of muscle mass/people who are "metabolically damaged" . ..  how much is too much re: carb nites . .  are you still really supposed to go for it (same as everyone else)?

When we say junk we mean the types of foods typically being associated with being junk-like nowadays ie. high-glycimic foods. Sweet potatoes and jasmine/sticky white rice work great and so do other foods whose main ingredients are glucose/dextrose etc or any readily usable and insulinogenic carb. The processed foods you do want to avoid are those containing trans fats, vegetable and hydrogenated oils etc such as commercial protein bars, cookies etc though in moderation even those are fair game.

There is a “Paleo” Tubecast you can watch that he made. If you want to stick to the Paleo type eating style till you get comfortable with “junk”. We don't always rely on junk carbs/foods to get optimal results. While it is enjoyable to have those sacred treats, getting to a certain goal (like losing body fat for an example) your sweet potatoes and white rice would be the better choice to getting there. You can even take the route of making your own “Paleo” desserts to compliment CBL/CNS.

What about white potatoes?  I like those baked kettle's brand potato chips! . . and I expect there are many other forms of white potato that I would enjoy . . a lot . . .Also re: "processed" -  do I understand that if the carb part . . the sugar or starch has been processed or refined that's kind of okay in this context (better if there is not too much fructose involved like HCSW or sucrose) . .  but it is not good if there are other processed and messed around with ingredients (other than the carbs) like transfats/MSG/chemical etc . . is that kind of right? And fat tends to blunt insulin so perhaps better not to go overboard with that espeically early on in the carb night . . . but some protein is likely a good thing to have . . probably for several reasons . . right?

What potatoes work great. So does white rice.If you are only doing CNS then you don't have to worry near as much about refined stuff since you are eating it so infrequently. And yes, start lower fat, have some protein through the evening, enjoy some fattier stuff later in the night.

I tried rice . . well sushi that contained rice . . the rice did not work well for me . . kind of a volume thing . . just a few pieces of sushi and some water and I was stuffed to the gills . .In NOT keeping with Paleo theme . . I like pizza! . . Pizza would best be a later in the carb nite sort of a treat, right, because of the fat . . I guess on the plus side it does have some protein and the cheese is probably insulinogenic or if it isn't . . at least it is yummy!I think I've been paleo or low carb for so long I've sort of lost touch with what carbs I actually like . . the addictive nature of sugar scares me a little ..  I don't want to get hooked on the stuff!

The starchy paleo carbs are all pretty good for this... if I remember, Cordain's book has a table listing starchy tubers and their glycemic index and load, so you could use that as a guide, with the higher GI/GL items better for a Carb Nite application. I imagine winter squash and pumpkin might serve too.Rice is likely the one anti-Paleo grain that is the least offensive to Paleo and works well for Carb Nite. I fired down about 6 Cali sushi rolls at the start of my 1st Carb Nite last Saturday... that was after the ceremonial Kiefer cherry-cheese danish  ;DSeems like everyone has a food that is too satiating/bloating and will block Carb Nite... sounds like yours is rice/sushi. I got really full on pizza but managed some ice cream and a frosted carrot cake muffin after that...
