tzanghiParticipantCan't you guys feel when you're getting a sugar high/insulin surge? I'm pretty sure I can. And I feel it when I eat tubs of ice cream . . . just my imagination? I also feel the same thing with whey isolate + leucine
I feel the pounding heart beat when I do dextrose and a lot of baked goods, but not from ice cream nor whey and leucine w/o dextrose.

Definitely, I added some dextrose (not much) to a bowl of captain crunch and felt it for sure.

I had the same experience today! I'm going to have to start putting dextrose on my ice cream.

Richard SchmittModeratorIf able, I highly recommend an ice cream machine maker. Imagine what you can do with dextrose sweetened ice cream. No worries about sugar, etc.

I made Sweet Potato Ice-cream on the weekend with added dextrose. http://paleomg.com/sugar-detox-sweet-potato-ice-cream-toasted-walnuts/ ( add some egg yolks to make it creamier)Also Rice Krispie Squares are great for backloads. You can find marshmallows made with glucose.http://www.ricekrispies.co.za/recipe.aspx

Cory McCarthyMemberIt's no secret on here that I tend to begin back-loads w/ angelfood cake. Almost pure carb, and the texture is awesome. 🙂 A staple.Sometimes I also eat gum drop candies. 🙂After that, not uncommon for me to eat entire birthday cakes, etc. (this is more CN, though).Cory

thestiffmeisterParticipantCory, I like your style. We have the same kinds of poisons, cept I don't do candy (chocolate doesn't cound as candy to me).I used to do angelfood cakes with maple spread, cake icing or chocolate syrup. Sweet Jesus those were awesome. Then the birthday cake thing, definitely, especially mom's. She's always like...moar of everything! She stuffs entire chocolate bars in between the different layers, covers that shit with extremely sweet whipped cream and then dumps more chocolate chunks and maple syrup to make sure it's sweet enough lol. It's absolutely ridiculous to the point people feel physically ill from the insulin spike. We should probably name that abomination "The Beetus" or something. You'd be amazed how lame Japanese pastries are in the sweetness department, and they have a LOT of fat, so they are quite terrible for backloading. Still looking for the least shitty options out there.

I am not fond of candy. I love gummies, but as a vegetarian, it is hard to find good gummies (w/o gelatin). Goody Good Stuff is a brand that makes good, natural vegetarian gummies. The candy I eat is more out of necessity / variety for my back-loads / CNs (to kick off). I do like Turkish Delights, though.I love angelfood cake for kicking off, high-carb, low-fat. I also like topping it with heavy cream as the CN or back-load progresses. As for Japanese goodies... I love Daifukus.Cory
