AugustKeymasterI was wondering which day (relative to the carb nite) would be the best (more representative) to weigh yourself. I think weighing myself everyday on this plan might make me a little crazy . . assuming that the scale might jump the morning after carb nites . . I also assume that there is going to be more scale volatility generally through out the carb nite week than I am used with with other diets . . emotionally I don't want to deal with the ups and downs on the scale . . I just want to weigh myself on what is hopefully the more representative day of the CN week, so that I can track my progress every week to see how I am doing with Carb Nites.

Robert GrayParticipantI step on the scale every time I go to the gym, but I wait until the day of my carb nite to attach any real significance to the number. I also use a bio-impedance body fat percentage test once a week or every other week to see how the weight is distributed internally. I don't have the money or a nearby facility to take a true bodpod or similarly foolproof measurement yet.

The morning of CN, at your dryest, leanest state of the week. Do it upon waking, after using the restroom, and before doing ANYTHING else... certainly before drinking a drop or any food.Cory

Yea the same here; I think the best time is right before the actual carb-nite. Morning time is great, your depleted and if you do it every week then you get an accurate weigh in from the carb-nite cycle.

guitarjonParticipantI weigh myself every morning right when I get up and every night right before bed. I agree though, the one that's the most significant is on the morning of my CN, that's also when I take measurements once a week.

AugustGuestThank you! That's really helpful information!(shutter) .... okay I'm just going to ask, how much does your scale weight fluctuate during the week on Carb Nites . . . I assume that after carb night would likely the heaviest . . if the morning before the next carb nites is the lightest . . so. . . how bad is the damage . . from those who are brave enough to look?

AugustGuestAlso, what is a reasonable amount to expect to lose per week on Carb Nites .. . and can you say both for men and for women?
January 3, 2013 at 4:45 am #129803
Cory McCarthyMemberUsually, upwards to ~7 lbs. of water / inflammation after a CN. Usually drops off by ~5 lbs. on Wednesday, and then is dried out by Saturday morning for my new weigh-in (minus new fat loss).I would never recommend ANYONE go over over 2 lbs. per week in FAT loss... or you will tap into muscle tissue, very likely. I typically lose ~1 lb. a week.Cory

Alexander BaurParticipantI'm weighing every day in the morning just to see how my body reacts to certain situations. But I just care for the weight on my CN.

zafhGuestI weigh just before and right after. That way I can track how much I have lost over the week and how much I gained from the CN.

This is definately relative to the person Cory, for someone reasonably lean with a lot of LBM then yes very true but if you are upwards of 20percent Id say you can lose more than 2lbs a week, cause youll be dropping water and fat crazy fast when they cut the carbs
