re: the protein shake per carb meal AFTER dinner, it's not clear. In the sample meal plans it says Hypertrophic Potentiator Formula ½ shake with each mealBut on page 143 at the bottom you read...Add a shake containing about 10 grams of hydrolysate and 5 grams of leucine to each of the carb ladenevening meals, in addition to a cut of meat or fish for maximum effect. That's not really the Hypertrophic Potentiator Formula listed in the sample meal plans.

Ignore the meal plans.Honestly, I'm not sure many of us do a shake with meals during the backload. For awhile I used 5g of luecine with every meal, but I didn't notice much if any benefit to just having it PWO and before bed.

Are you doing the 5g of Creatine multiple times per day or just with the PWO (Hypertrophic Potentiator Formula) shake for a total of about 5g a day?

Apparently leucine + carbs = much higher insulin spike than either one taken alone, so I can see how it would make sense. This begs the question: How is a higher insulin spike beneficial on a backload?

Insulin transports nutrients to the organs in the body. This includes muscle cells and fat cells."It is an anabolic/lipogenic hormone triggered by your pancreas upon the consumption of carbohydrates which stores the consumed carbohydrate as glycogen, a glucose polymer. The glycogen is stored in muscles and the liver to which we hold about 1600-1800 calories from glycogen max. It is said that after carbo loading, that number can jump as high as 2800 kcal."also Insulin  shuttles the glucose to parts of the body it can be stored and used as the primary source for energy.Initially insulin shuttles glucose to muscle cells. This is great for those of us looking to gain muscle as insulin in muscle cells results in an increase in protein synthesis. The growth and repair of muscles is dependent on protein synthesis. What’s more, along with stimulating protein synthesis, insulin also transports amino acids to the muscle cells. Amino acids are the building blocks from which proteins are be built from. In short… Insulin is highly anabolic (anabolism is the phase of metabolism that results in growth.)

Providing you trained before backloading, your fat is insulin resistance, but your muscle are ready to soak up nutrients, with or without insulin because of TGLUT, the insulin will still cause nutrients to be shuttled out of the blood stream to be stored, and because of the situation we created, they will go to muscle first.A larger insulin spike will be faster clearance of nutrients from the blood stream and allow insulin levels to fall to base line to prevent interference with nightly GH.

I do 5g four times a day. twice during ULC, once with the PWO shake, and once before bed.

I'm leaning towards this option –> 10 grams of hydrolysate and 5 grams of leucine with each carb meal post-training vs the full blown shake or even half of it.I'm pretty excited to do the 10 day Prep phase to get an idea of how many carbs I'll shoot for after training (including carbs in the post workout shake as I tolerate that well enough)

Update:Thank you to all who replied so quickly.  Really appreciate the assistance.  I'm reading the eBook several times over, trying to absorb the info and keep this as simple as possible.

Okay, so more insulin = more muscle growth + gets carbs out of the blood stream quickly; sounds like a good reason to take lucine with carb meals….

What about on off days, do you still take the creatine 4 times a day?

That depends on your budget and the reason you are taking creatine but if budget isn't an issue and you are looking for an edge the higher creatine intake have been associated with myostatin inhibition which is a very good thing if you are trying to put on muscle maximally.

I try to, but I don't always remember. Some times I only end up taking it twice.

I do 5g four times a day. twice during ULC, once with the PWO shake, and once before bed.Do you make a point of taking it with food or not?  I don't get the impression it'll break my fast if I take it first thing with water when I have my first black coffee.  Yesterday I think I managed 30g, but I only first took some at about 11am with my A.M. accelerator and fish oil.

I take about 15 g of hydrolyzed whey and 5 g of leucine with each meal when I backload.
