Try cold fizzy water. It gives you the same kind of refreshing feeling a soda gives you but without the dreaded Ace K!

    +1Sparkling water FTW

Actually the sugar alcohol that Zevia contains is ok to have while ULC. Kiefer mentioned this in an very early Podcast, it is a sugar alcohol yes but the body doesn't recognize it and doesn't cause any type of spike in the blood. Making it safe to take. I wouldn't make it a habit though but it is ok.

If you like cola, then Diet RC should work really well for you – if you can find it.  It is sweetened with Splenda (sucralose) and has no Ace-K.  Also, I have found a GREAT dessert substitute I never would have imagined – it is Canfield's brand chocolate fudge soda, again sweetened with Splenda and no Ace-K.  Not sure about availability in your area, though.  I can't get used to the taste of stevia, so these were staples during CNS and still use them (especially choc soda) on non-backload nights.

I haven't seen RC since I lived in the south.  I kind a forgot about that drink.  Same with Mr. Pibb.Cory

Yeah, I'm in Texas, so we got it.  Have it at all the bigger Supermarkets, some of the smaller stores, not so much.  As for Mr. Pibb, when I lived in Houston as a kid, it was BIG TIME.  Then it went away for a while, now I think it is back as 'Pibb XTreme' or some ridiculousness.

I've passed through that area on many a trip northward (my wife's from Wisconsin).Albertson's has been gone from my neck of the woods (San Antonio) since about 2000 or so... used to be nice change-of-pace from HEB.

Yeah... I cannot say I miss it.  I moved to NYC, and never looked back.  This city has it all, and I don't need a car.Cory

I am just the opposite…Grew up in New York (born at Lenox Hill Hosp) and moved to Texas @ 11 and never looked back.  Hated the cold weather.  Speaking of not needing a car - I used to have to walk 13 'long' blocks to school in that freakin' weather every winter, not fun.

Lenox Hill... nice, that is my preferred hospital.  I live in the "Sutton" neighborhood of Midtown East, my nearest subway stop is Lex & 53rd (E & M lines) or 51st (6 line).I can walk a chunk of Manhattan (from 112th Street to South Ferry) in approx. 90 minutes or less.  I've done it a few times, just for shits (also with a girl I was seeing, so it was very nice).Manhattan only seems large, but it is really just a tiny island.Cory
