P.J.ParticipantI remember my family waking me up in a panic saying the Pentagon and Twin Towers had been attacked and that the White House was next. The whole thing was surreal.

Lauren NorfleetParticipantI was working at a bank and was on the phone with my friend when I heard what happened. I specifically remember saying “what kind of idiot flies a plane into a building?” assuming it was an accident. It was pretty sobering when the second one hit and we all realized it was no mistake.

Blake NorfleetParticipantI was working for a company who make and took care of the elevators in the Towers. We stopped and listened to the radio. It hit home for me when all the parts we shipped out returned a short time after they started cleaning up. Like here's the proof, dusty boxes…

I was in Brooklyn, in art university (Sophomore year). I remember someone in my class interrupting the lesson, in a panic, alerting everyone. Class immediately dispersed, and I went to the roof of the tallest building on campus, and watching the 2nd tower fall... as a cloud of debris billowed up, and the building sort of imploded into it, and the dust blew out over the river, and into downtown Brooklyn.Downtown Brooklyn looked snow-covered. I got ill from what foul air came up my way, and was put on a course of anti-biotics, which prevented me from giving blood to aid the injured (which they needed, and I am O+ univeral donor).I still remember walking through the cafeteria, seeing people huddled together, crying... the still in the air, the shock, the feeling of doom, uncertainty.I will never forget.Cory

Igor VidovicParticipantI was driving to a physics lecture. Had to pull over and park as the atrocious news were spilling in through the speakers. To this day I still chase to become a firefighter in hope of helping others. I was so moved by the effort of our fallen brothers and sisters..you will never be forgotten
